How to teach kid G2 of California Wonders

We have already learned english for one year with Calofornia Wonders. And now we are studying G2 of that. I found it is a little difficult for me to teach since there are much more texts and words that my kid can not follow that as fluently as G1.
Would some guys can share some experices for us? We will appreciate for your help.

毕竟是母语为英语的教材，我们没有大的环境，仅凭几个小时的教学达到美国孩子的水平是不现实的。我觉得你要么每天用更多的时间在加州教材上，牺牲学校课程的时间去达到同步；要么你只能放慢脚步，延长每一个级别的时间。
