Mr Bloom’s Nursery is a children‘s series which attempts to teach children some important life lessons through the wonder of vegetable gardening in Mr Bloom‘s Nursery. Through a combination of live action and puppets the series shows children how they can learn from the experience of nurturing plants and vegetables.
The makers behind CBeebies programme Mr Bloom’s Nursery have spoken about how the idea blossomed into a success ever since its creation in 2008. Ben Faulks, who plays Mr Bloom, said that; “I am a father of two, and at the time my daughter was watching CBeebies I started thinking about what I would like my children to watch.”Aware that many children do not know where vegetables come from, Mr Faulks designed a street show aimed at entertaining and informing youngsters.
Creating a gardening character called Vegetable Nannie, he filled a pram full of vegetables with googly eyes and then started performing at festivals and shows.The show’s producer Jon Hancock said Mr Faulks encouraged children to: “Cuddle a courgette and hug a marrow,” in what he described as a “surreal” experience.“We developed the idea for six months in 2009, building up a television format for the character,” he says. “We then spent all of 2010 making the programme
