Bookaboo is a 2009 British children's television series created by Lucy Goodman and produced by Happy Films. It is
exclusive to the CITV Channel.
Lucy Goodman and Ian Emes were awarded a BAFTA in 2009 for Bookaboo. The series has also won a 2010 Broadcast
Award and the 2010 International Prix Jeunesse award.
FormatThe show revolves around a rock puppy named Bookaboo, who is a world famous drummer who tours all over the
world. However, he has a problem; he can't perform until he has been read a story, saying "A story a day or I just can't play!". He retreats to his tourbus ignoring all stage calls, until one of his celebrity fans checks up on
him, bringing with them a 'Bookabag' containing a picture book to read to him. After the story is finished,
Bookaboo gets his motivation back and returns to the stage to perform the show.
Bookaboo plays the drums in his own rock band. Each episode sees him at a different venue ready to play a concert,
but there's a problem. He needs to hear a story before he can play!
Bookaboo loves the pleasure of sharing stories and each episode a famous face goes back stage to see if they can
lure Bookaboo back to his drums by sharing a picture book with him on his tour bus.
Once he's had a story, Bookaboo takes to the stage and wows the world with the best canine drum solo ever heard!
