    Where Does the River Go?
One hot, hazy summer’s day, little nutbrown hare was trying to keep cool down by the stream with his father, big nutbrown hare.

    Hooray, hoho…my turn.

    At least we’re cool now.

Huh…but why didn’t my stone skip like yours?

Try this flat one. And that’s it, mm…bend your knees. Hmmm…arm back, down low and…throw.

Oh, yeeah! I get it now. Bend your knees, arm back, then low and throw!

    Yes. Huhu, that’s it. Huhu…

Oops! It’s sunk. Hmmm..now, watch this stick: up on your tippy toes, lift up your nose, ease right back and, off it go! Haha! It floats!

Hihihihi. Let me try it. Up on your tippy toes, lift up your nose…

    Hey,…where’s my stick going?

Let’s find out. I’ll race you.

Look, there’s my stick! The one with the green leaf and it’s winning.

Huhuhu. Mine is catching up now.

    Go, stick!

Here they are. Huhu, go stick! Wait a minute, where, where’s my stick? Where, where, oh, oh…there it is! Oh, it’s getting faster, it’s getting faster. I’m going to…

I don’t see them. There they are. Look at my stick go! It’s winning the race.

Mine’s not far behind. Go, stick, go! …and my, my stick’s gone!
Hey, Otta. Hey, come back with my stick.

Hoho, you’ll have to catch me first.

Hoho, ohoho, we’ll catch you, Otta.

    Come on! Let’s catch him.

    You can’t catch me!

    Yes, we will!

    Hello, butterflies.

Watch out, big nutbrown hare?...That was close!

Wow, look how big the stream is!

    The streams become a river.

    A big, wide river.

    Hooray, there’s your stick!

    My stick, hooray!

    Oh, and mine!

    Quick, let’s catch him!

    Come on!

It’s all yours now. I’m off.

    Goodbye, Otta.

There go our sticks, and mine still winning.

Mine is not far behind. Oh, and now it’s ahead.

Oh…but not for long. Go stick, you’re a winner, go!

Oh, come on, stick. Come on, you can do it.

Ho…look, wow! Where does the river end?

Let’s keep going and find out.

    Yes, let’s.

Oh no! We can’t get past….Yes, we can! Croak! Thanks, little green frog. Croak!

    Hihihihi, Croak, croak!

Huh, it’s too far to jump.

Not for me. Come on up.

    Let’s go, big nutbrown frog.

Croak, hop…hold on tight, little nutbrown hare.

    Now after those sticks.

    Where are they?

    I can’t see them.

Oh, no! Have we lost them?

    Hello!

Hello, bluebird. Can you see our sticks?

    They went that way!

    I’ll have a look.

And can you see which one is winning…ah, bluebird can fly so high.

    I couldn’t see any sticks.

    Oh, we have lost them.

But I did see little field mouse, just up ahead.

Little field mouse, maybe she’s seeing them. Let’s go.

    Lalala..Hello.

    Don’t fall into the river.

    OK, bluebird, I’ll be careful.

Well, I’d better get back to my nest. Have fun!

    Bye-bye, bluebird.

Lalalalala…En…Come on, log! Why won’t you budge?

Hello, little field mouse. What are you doing?

Trying to get this log unstuck. But I am too light.

    But why?

So we can go for a ride.

Yeeah. I’ll help…Won’t you come for a ride. We might catch our sticks.

    What a fine idea!

    Bend down low.

    Watch our flow.

    And…go go go!

Oh oh oh, our river ride!

    Oh ho, this is fun!

    Oh, a waterfall. What now?

    Here..we..go!

    Hu…hold on tight!

    Hey, here are our sticks!

    Here am I.

    So you are. Hello, Otta.

All together, and nice and cool in this lovely deep blue pool.

I think we both won the race.

    Hahaha, we did.

    Ah…ah, big nutbrown hare.

    Yes, little nutbrown hare?

I think our sticks brought us to a really nice place.

Ah, I think you are right.

So, is this the end of the river?

    Let’s see, shall we?

    OK.

    Have a look!

Wow, it goes all the way to the big blue sea.

That’s right, little nutbrown hare. From little things, big things grow.

    Just like me.

Hehe, yes, just like you. So, shall we follow it?

    Hmm, it does look beautiful.

Little nutbrown hare thought about visiting the big blue sea. But he and his friends had found a perfect way to stay cool on their hot, hazy summer’s day.

…Maybe another day. But hey, guess how much I love you?

    Hmm, how much?

As much as the river is long and wide and stake, and, as much as this big splash. Watch out below! Hoho…

Oh, ho, call that a splash?

    My turn next.

Yoho, you’ll have to beat me to the top first.

    I Want to Fly

It was a cool, autumn morning. And Big Nutbrown Hare was still asleep. But Little Nutbrown Hare was already wide awake.

Wake up and see. Wake up and see.

    Well, it’s like it’s important.

    Yes, it is important.

See? The autumn leaves. They’re even prettier today than yesterday.

Yes. I love this time of year. Each day brings new colors.

Look! There’s a red one, and a purple, and an orange..oh..and even a yellow one! ah..this is the prettiest leaf of them all!

    Hey, come back, leaf!

Go on, you can catch it, Little Nutbrown Hare.

I’ve got you now…Oh, I’ll never get to up there. No one will get it now…except a bird.

Hmm, I wish I could fly like Bluebird.

Oh, yes, I do too, Little Nutbrown Hare. Lots of animals wish they could fly but can’t.

Really?...bees fly…hmm, dragonflies can fly…even wriggly crawly caterpillars get to fly when they turn into butterflies.

Oh, well, I guess you can’t fly, Little Brown Beetle. Well, you look like you couldn’t fly.

Maybe we can fly. Have you ever tried?

    No, I don’t think I have.

Then how do you know we can’t fly?

Because I think we might need wings to fly.

We might not have wings. But we have big ears. You try it, flap, flap.
    Flap, flap…

    That’s it! Now let’s fly.

    Flap, flap…Ooo, oops!

That was fun, Big Nutbrown Hare. But I don’t think it was flying.

    Hey.

    Hello, Little Field Mouse.

Hello, Little Nutbrown Hare. What are you doing?

We were trying to fly. But I don’t think we did.

Flying? I’d love to fly. Have you tried flapping your arms?

No, do you think that would work?

    Well, it works for birds.

    Then let’s try.

    We’re still on the ground.

    I think I flew a little bit.

    How does Bluebird do it?
    Bluebird!

    Oh, hello.

How do you fly? We flapped our arms and our ears. But nothing happens.

We have our features. They help me fly.

    Oh, we don’t have features.

    No, we don’t.

Look, leaves are a bit like features. Maybe they will work just as well. May I borrow these, please?

Of course, it’s no short of such leaves in autumn.

    I’ve got some too.

Can you show us how you fly, Bluebird?

Oh, I’ve never really thought about how I fly. I just do it. But I’ll try and explain.

That’s a good idea asking Bluebird. She knows all about flying. If you need my help, I’ll be lying down just over there, watching you and thinking about flying. Hey, I’ll do some of best thinking while I lie down.

So, how do you do it, Bluebird?

Well, what I do is, I just flap my wings and fly.

    And if that doesn’t work?

Well, sometimes, I take a running start like this…then I start flap my wings…then a gust of wind comes by, I flap harder and run faster, and jump, and I’m flying.

    Wow!

    Let’s do it, that!

    Get ready, set and jump.

    How did the flying go?

It didn’t. We tried standing and jumping, and running and jumping. I tried flying with leaves, without leaves, flapping my ears, and flapping my arms. But nothing worked.

Never mind, Little Nutbrown Hare. I didn’t have much luck with my thinking, either.

    You didn’t?

No. I think the ground was just too hard for good lying down and thinking. But, you know what? Maybe if we made a big comfortable pile of leaves, we could all lie on it, and have a really good think about how to fly.

    You think so?

Oh, yes. The bigger the pile of leaves, the more comfortable it’ll be, and the easier it will be for us to think.
So let’s build a really big pile of leaves.

    The biggest pile of leaves.

    I’ll help.

All right. Here is the start.

    Look at this one!

You are so fast, Little Nutbrown Hare.

    Ooo, ooops!

    Oh, that’s some pile!

It’s the biggest I’ve ever seen!

    And we all helped.

Little Nutbrown Hare may not be able to fly. But he can hop really fast.

    Faster than anyone!

Yeah, I guess I can. But Little Field Mouse found the prettiest leaves.

Thank you. And Bluebird was able to put the leaves on the very top.

    Yes, I suppose I did.

And I am good at …thinking.

So everyone is good at something.

Yes, you are absolutely right, Little Nutbrown Hare.

I must get busy now. Goodbye, everyone.

    See you later!

Now, let’s see if this is a good lying down and thinking pile of leaves.

    Ready?

    Ready!

Have you thought of anything yet?

    Huh, yes!

    Already?!

Well, everyone is good at something. Some are fast. Some can fly. And I guess some are good thinkers. I have thought of a way that you can fly.

    Yeea, how?

    Like this…

    Weee…I’m flying.

    Coming in for landing.

Do it again. Do it again.

    Me too. Me too.

That evening, as Little Nutbrown Hare snuggled into bed beside his father, he was still excited.

    I had fun today.

    Hmm. I know you did.

Even when I wasn’t flying. But flying was the best fun of all.

Hmm. I’m glad you liked it.

Hmm…guess how much I love you?

    How much?

More than all the times you threw me round and round, and round and round today.

Hmm, then guess how much I love you. More than all the times I am going to fly you round and round and round and round and round tomorrow.

Ok! With the basket full of treasures.
M: But what are we looking for?
L: Whatever we think is treasure.
    L&M: Treasure! Wow!
    M: Are you sure that’s a treasure?
L: It’s from a bird that can fly.
    M: Oh!
    L: Moldy fruit?
M: It’s what I call treasure. It’s from a special tree that grows apples.
L: Oh, really? Let’s put them here.
L: I just wonder what kind of treasure big nut-brown hare would like best of all.
    L: Oh, little grey squirrel.
S: I know what he likes best of all. I’ll show you.
S: Now that is what I call treasure.
M: Acorns and nuts. Not bad, not bad at all.
L: Hey, look! This nut has the same color as me.
M: Why do you think you’re called little nut-brown hare?
L: Big nut-brown hare would love these treasures.
M: Come on, there’re lots of more treasures to find.
S: May I join the treasure hunt too?
    L: Of course.
    M: Yeah!
L: Oh, treasure! Treasure from a bird.
BB: Hello, what are you collecting?
L: Treasure for big nut-brown hare.
BB: There’s someone treasures my broken eggshells.
L: Real baby birds hatched from them.
    BB: They did, indeed.
M: Thanks for your eggshells, bluebird. Race it to the river.
S: I’ll beat you. Bye, bluebird.
L: Thanks bluebird, bye. Hey, wait for me.
    L: First!
    S: Second!
    M: Lucky last!
O: What are you three up to?
S: We’re on a hunt, finding treasure for big nut-brown hare.
O: Oh, did you say treasure? Just wait right there.
    L: Wow, sparkly stones.
    S: No, it’s gold. That’s what I call treasure.
O: Oh, well…it’s not really gold, but I still think it’s special.
    L: Thank you otter!
    O: Goodbye!
    L&M&S: Bye, otter!
L: Look, the sun is going down. I’d better go home right away.
    S: Oh, you’re right.
M: Goodbye. Wait, little nut-brown hare! It’s not quite set, just one more treasure.
M: We might find a really special one.
L: Ok, just one more. Then it’s better to big nut-brown for me.
B: Little nut-brown hare. Hello? Hello?
    S: Hi!
B: Oh, you got me again, little grey squirrel. Have you seen little nut-brown hare lately?
S: Yes, with little field mouse, collecting treasures.
B: Treasures? Like this lovely brown-nut with the same color as me.
S: That is exactly what little nut-brown hare has said.
B: So they must have gone that way.
    S: Goodbye!
    BB: Hello, big nut-brown hare.
B: Hello, bluebird. Congratulations on your little ones.
BB: Thank you. Your little one was here not long ago. He thought my broken eggshells were treasures.
    B: Thank you, bluebird.
O: If you’re looking for little nut-brown hare, just follow the golden trail.
    B: Thank you, otter!
Owl: So the treasure was here for one thousand years.
    L: That’s a very, very long time.
Owl: But finally, the crulers and treasure…? A very old cave full of treasure.
L: Oh, big nut-brown hare. Just wait till you see what we’ve got in here, special treasures, just for you.
    L: All your treasures, gone!
B: Oh dear! Is this what you’re looking for?
L: The treasures. Yeah! We hunted them just for you.
B: Yes, thank you, my little nut-brown hare. And best of all, there treasures were the clues that led me to you, the greatest treasure of all.
L: At least it didn’t take a thousand years.
Narrator: And so as the spring moon rose in the night sky, the nut-brown hares shared the wonderful treasures they had found.
    L: I love nuts.
B: Me, too. But guess what I love more than nuts?
    L: Can I have a hint?
    B: Let’s see. It’s little. It’s nut-brown. And it hops!
    L: Oh, me!
B: Hmm, that’s right. I love you more than all the treasure in the world.

Gusee how much I love you
    Inside day
N: narrator    L: little nut brown hare   B: big nut brown hare   M: field mouse  S: squirrel
    F: red wood fox
N: It was a cold winter’s morning. And little nut brown hare and little field mouse were hoping their friend little gray squirrel would come out to play. They haven’t seen him for most of the winter.
L: Little gray squirrel. Hmm...   Where are you? Little field mouse
M: I’m hiding. When the little gray squirrel comes out , I’m going to say “Boo”.
    L: Me too.
    L&M: Little gray squirrel.
    S: Hello, who’s there?
    M&L: Boo, it’s us.
    S: oh, you stunned me.
L: You’ve been in your tree for a long long time, little gray squirrel. When are you coming out to play?
S: I’m not coming yet untill spring time.
L: Spring time? He’s not coming yet untill spring time.
M: Are you going to hibernate?
S: A bit like that. I just like to stay inside in winter.
    L: Hmm
M: What are you looking at?
    L: Winter.
    M: Oh
L: I do miss spring, flowers and breeze, leaves and trees, long green grass and buzz and bees.
M: And birds to sing, who’s singing the spring.
L: If we hibernate like little gray squirrel and stay inside to sleep, maybe the spring will come sooner.
    M: It’s a great idea!
    L: It is ?
M&L: Let’s start to race to it.
N: Little nut brown hare’s father big nut brown hare was only just getting up after big sleep in.
    B: Well, hello there.
    M&L: Hello
B: Won’t you come to help me look for grass roots in the woods?
L: No, thanks. Do you know what “hibernate” means?
B: It means animals snuggle up in a cozy winter nests and save their energy for collecting food in the spring.
    L: Like us?
B: Hmm, all winter is a long time to spend inside especially for little nut brown hares and little field mice.
L: But if we hibernate, then maybe spring will be here sooner.
    B: I don’t know about that.
    L: We do.
B: Oh, do you? Ok, I’ll be back soon to see how you’re doing.
L: I can’t wait to spring, so I can run around in the long green grass.
M: And i can’t wait to spring, so i can wear flower hats.
L: Yes, i can’t wait to spring, so i can hide in the bush and watch the butterfly land on my nose.
M: It is taking a long gruffs the spring to come along.
L: Maybe, we should do something when we wait.
    M: Yes, let’s play a game I spy colors
    L: Ok, i’ll pick something.
M: I’ll guess what it is.
L: There’s lots of brown in here. I spy with my little eyes something that is ...
    M: White?
L:Little field mouse i’m supposed to pick the color. En... white
    M: Hmm, snow?
L: You got it, fast guess.
M: Hmm, there’s lots of white, and it’s all snow.
L: You’re right. I spy colors is not the best game to play in winter.
M: What about hide and boo?
L: You hide first, one snowflake, two snowflakes, three snowflakes, here i come, ready or not?
    Where can she be?
    M: Boo
L: What a surprise! You’re a good hider, little field mouse. Now, it’s my turn.
M: One snowflake, two snowflakes, three snowflakes, four snowflakes, five snowflakes, here i come, ready or not?
L: Little field mouse, this is so much fun, I’m hardly noticing the spring, isn’t it?
M: But little nut brown hare, there are only two places to hide. But there are plenty of places to hide outside the log.
L: But we have to hibernate.
M: I’ve decided I want to go outside to play after all. Little field mice are not supposed to hibernate and I’m going to see little nut brown hares are not supposed to do either.
L: But I’m still staying here.
M: La la la, and jump.
    L: Hi...AH
F: I wish you come out and play with us. Let’s play follow the leader.
M: Good idea! You’ll be leader, little red wood fox.
F: You try to follow my footprints.
M: Ok, here I go. Oh, you take very big jump, little red wood fox..
       You follow me now.
F: ok, you take very tiny steps, little field mouse.
L:If I go to sleep, when I wake up, it might be spring. Hmm
M: One two three frozen tree
L: Oh, they are playing frozen tree in the snow. I love playing frozen tree. I’m still going to hibernate. I just stood from here.
Now, I’m a hibernate behind the tree.
M: Is that you, little nut brown hare? Sh.....
    M&L&F: Boo
F: Little nut brown hare I thought you want to hibernate.
L: I did. And that was good. But I finish now. Oh, look, it’s snowing, it’s so lovely.
M: Let’s catch snowflakes. I can catch more than you.
L: No, I can. You are right, little field mouse, I don’t think little nut brown hares are meant to hibernate.
F: Me either, the little red wood fox.
M: All the little field mice.
N: And so little nut brown hare and his friends were glad with winter after all. And spring was still some time away.
L: How many more days are left in the winter?
    B: All plenty
L: You are right, big nut brown hare. All winter is far too long to spend inside.
Guess how much i love you?
B: More than the fun you can have playing footprints in the snow.
More than the fun you can have playing frozen tree.
More than the fun you can have catching the snowflakes.
L: More than all the fun you can have all winter long.

Gusee how much I love you
    Where’s little redwood fox?
N: narrator    L: little nut brown hare   B: big nut brown hare   M: field mouse  S: squirrel
    F: red wood fox
N: It was sparkling winter’s day. And the snow covered the meadow. What a perfect place for fun! Games and jumping.
    F: Oh, good jump
    B&L: Hooray, good jump
    L: It’s my turn
    F: Ready, go
M: Hey, you jumped farther and higher than you have ever jumped before.
B: Yes, well, let’s see how far I can jump
L: Attending, big nut brown hare
    F: Ready, go
    Wow, that was really far
B: Maybe, a little too far
L: Hold on. That’s not big nut brown hare’s mark
M: A bushy tail shape. It looks like this may belong to little gray squirrel.
L: I wonder what he’s doing at in winter
F: Why don’t we follow his prints and find him
L: Good idea. Aren’t you coming big nut brown hare?
B: I might have a little rest after that big jump. Off you go. Have fun
L: OK, see you soon. Hey, wait for me. Look there he is.
M: Ok, let’s be really quiet. Let’s trick him this time
    S: Oh, there you are
    F&L&M: Surprise
S: Where did you come from?
F: We thought we could surprise you for a change
    S: And you sure did
L: Following little gray squirrel’s prints in snow has given me a good idea.
    S: It has?
L: Yes, for a new game. You all snowhide while I count. And I’ll snowseek you by following your prints in the snow.
    S: Now, that’s a really good idea. Let’s play
L: So what are you waiting for? It’s time for you all to…
    M&S&F: Snowhide
L:One snowflake, two snowflakes, three snowflakes, four snowflakes and five snowflakes. Snowseek time.
Hmm…little gray squirrel’s snow prints, Er…little redwood fox’s snow prints and little field mouse. Look out, little field mouse, here I come.
L: Little field mouse. She must have grown some extra legs or maybe there are lots of little field mice.
    M: Found us
    L: Good snowhiding. Hello, everyone
    M: Hello
    Some other mice: Good-bye
M: Now I can help you snowseek
    L: Let’s go
M: Now let’s see whose this print belongs to
L: Four feet and a bushy tail. It’s little gray squirrel, all right?
    L&M: Snowseek time
L: Look out, little grey squirrel, here we come
M: Wait, the prints go in the circle
L: So he must be around here somewhere. Is that little gray’s tail. I see
M&L: Found you, little gray squirrel
    S: I’ll down there
    L: Ha..Good trick
M: Now for little redwood fox’s snowprints. And they are hiding this way.
L: Look, the prints stop right outside the dam. She is sure to be ticktop inside. But not for long. Little redwood fox, hello. She is not in there.
    M:Oh, where is she then?
L: The prints stop right here
S: It’s like she’s vanished in the air
    L: Perhaps she flew away
    M: Fox can’t fly
    L: Little redwood fox, hello
    B: hello
L: Hold on. That was big nut brown hare’s voice
B: Having fun in the snow?
M: Yes, we are playing snowseek
    B:Oh, I don’t think I know that game
L: Well, see your snowprints. When you hide, they help us find you.
B: Oh, That does sound like fun
L: And we’ve snowseeked everyone except little redwood fox
M: Because she disappeared in the air. Look, her prints stop right here.
    S: Have you seen her?
B: Well, I have as a matter of fact. I remember because she was acting very strangely--- walking backwards.
L: Why did she do that?
B: What are you doing? Little nut brown hare
L: I get it. That tricky little redwood fox has walked backwards in her own tracks
M: That’s why her prints disappeared
S: That means we have to follow her prints back again
    M&L&S: It’s snowseek time
    L: Are you coming?
B: Soon,I just put these under our tree for later
L: How will you find us?
B: I’ll have to snowseek you, I guess
    F: Clever clever me
M: Little redwood fox? Where are you?
    F: I’m right here
L: We found you at last
F: Why took you so long
S: It took us so long to figure out your tricky trick
M: You walked backwards in your own prints all the way here
F:I did. And I hid until you came back
L: That was very clever of you to think of doing that
F: Yes, and clever of you to work it out too.
M: It’s your turn to snowseek because you are the last to be found
    F: Ok, you hide
L: But big nut brown hare is snowseeking us
S: Maybe we need to find a really good hiding spot
    M: yes
F: I have one more tricky trick left if you are interested
    L&M&S:Yes
B: Hello, little nut brown hare. Hmm.. strange. Lot’s of snowprints up to here. Then only one continues. Little redwood fox’s snowprints. Now that’s a mystery. Ah, ha…I say she may well be hiding behind this tree.
    M&F&L&S: Surprise
B: Ah, why, hello, now that was tricky and clever too
N: All kinds of footprints, big and small have been left behind in the meadow that day.
    L: look, so many snowprints
B: And each one tells us a story about the fun things we did today
L: Oh, no, the snow is filling our prints. The story will soon be covered in snow
B: Oh, don’t worry. We will have fun making a new story in the snow tomorrow
    L: Yes, we will
B: Guess how much I love you
    L: How much
B: I love you more than all the snowprints we made today
L: That is a lot, but guess how much I love you
    B: How much?
L: More than all the new prints in the snow that we will make tomorrow.
    B: Hooray!

Gusee how much I love you
    Favourite thing
N: narrator    L: little nut brown hare   B: big nut brown hare   M: field mouse  S: squirrel
N: It was a bright summer’s day. And the sun was shining warmly. Little nut brown was eating some fresh green shoots and big nut brown hare could see that he was in a very big hurry to finish them.
B: Oh, don’t eat so fast, little nut brown hare. You’ll get tummyache
L: But little field mouse is waiting
    B: Well
    B: What’s the big hurry
M: That’s prettiest flower ever on the other side of the meadow
L: And she wants to show me
B: Prettiest ever? Oh, that sounds wonderful. All right, last one then. But not so fast
M: This way, little nut brown hare, we are nearly there, hurry
    L: I’m coming. We’re getting closer?
    M: There it is
    L: Wow, how lovely
M: See, the prettiest flower ever
L: Are you going to take it home?
M: Well, It’s not planted in the ground or growing on the tree, so I can take it home. I’m going to keep it forever and ever. It will be my most favorite thing.
    L: Little field mouse
M: Yes, little nut brown hare
L: Could I borrow your most favorite thing?
M: Borrow? My most favorite thing?
    L: Just for one night
    M; One whole night?
L: To show big nut brown hare
    M: All right
    L; Thank you. Oh.
M: But first you have to promise
L: Is this one of your special little field mouse promises?
M: It’s brand-new one. Touch your nose. Now promise to keep my most favorite thing extra safe.
    L: I promise
M: Now you have to spin on your spot and clap your hands like this
    L: What does that mean?
M: That means it’s a promise that can never ever be broken.
    L: All right
    M: Look after it
L: I will.       It’s a promise that can never ever be broken
B: I see, well, it’s a very pretty flower. If I were a little field mouse I would want this to be my favorite thing too. Thank you for sharing me
L: I’ll keep it here where it will be safe
B: Right now, it’s time for bed
    L: Do I have to?
B: The sooner you go to sleep the sooner it will be morning
L: I left it right here. Oh, that’s strange, big nut brown hare, big nut brown hare
B: Oh, what is it? Little nut brown hare
L: Have you got the flower, little field mouse’s most favorite thing
    B: No, why?
L: Because it’s not where I left last night. And I made a special little field mouse promise that I keep it extra safe. And now I can’t find it anywhere. Poor little field mouse will be very sad.
B: It’ll be all right little nut brown hare
L: But it’s a promise that can never ever be broken
B: The wind must have blown it away last night. Do you think one of your friends sees it blowing by
L: Maybe little gray squirrel found it
B: or one of your other friends
L: Yes, I’m going to look for it?
S: Sorry, little nut brown hare. I haven’t seen a flower as pretty or that special like that. Don’t worry. I’ve got something even better.
    L: You do?
    S: Aha, hmm
    L: What is it?
    S: A nut. I’ve been nibbling a little a week. It’s my favorite thing.
L: Well, it’s a very nice nut and I can see why it will be your favorite thing, but。。。
M: That flavor must be very special
L: It is very special. I’d better keep looking. Maybe otter knows where it is. Good-bye
    S: Good-bye and good luck
M: Little gray squirrel, have you seen little nut brown hare?
S: Oh, yes. I have seen him. He went that way
    M: Thank you
L: Hmm. Otter is not here. I’d better keep looking. Sorry, are you all right?
M: I’m fine. And it’s glad to find you. I’ve been looking everywhere. Yes I want to get my favorite thing back and see you of course
L: Ah, well. I was thinking that instead of silly of flower, you may like some nuts. That’s little gray squirrel’s most favorite thing.
M: That’s silly. I just want my most favorite in all the meadow
L: Well. I’m very sorry to tell you little field mouse. But I lost it.
M: Lost it? After you promised to keep it extra safe
L: En. It blew away in the windy night
M: But you touched your nose
L: I know. I’ve been looking for your flower all morning
M: And you sprang on your spot and claped your hands
L: Yes, I’m very sorry. I lost your most favorite thing and didn’t keep it safe like I promised. Please don’t be sad
M: Well. Why didn’t you tell me. I’m willing to help you to look for it
L: You mean you are not sad?
M: Well, I did like that flower very much. But it was just only a flower. Maybe we can find it together
L: But what if it’s lost forever and ever
M: Then I will just have to be happy with my other favorite thing.
    L: What’s that?
M: Spending time with you of course
L: Thank you little field mouse
M: Little nut brown hare, could you please let me go. It is very tight.
L: Sorry, come on. Let’s see if we can find your flower
N: The two friends never did find the flower. But for the rest of the day, they did have lots of fun together which was their most favorite thing of all.
B: I’m very proud of you, my little nut brown hare for what you did today.
    L: For losing the flower?
B: No, for caring so much about little field mouse’s feelings. And try very hard to fix them stick
L: Well, I didnot want her to be sad
B: Can you guess how much I love you
    L: Yes
    B: How much?
L: You love me more than all the favorite things in the meadow
    B: No, I can’t do that
    L: Why not
B: Because you are my favorite thing in the meadow
    L: Really? Ah
B: Yes, and pass the meadow and down the river all the way to the sea
    L: And back.

Gusee how much I love you
    Snowflake
N: narrator    L: little nut brown hare   B: big nut brown hare   M: field mouse  S: squirrel
N: It was a chilly winter’s morning, and little nut brown hare was awake before his father big nut brown hare
B: Little nut brown hare, are you there?
    L: No, I’m here
B: Oh, hello, there, you trick me
L: The ground is cold today
B: I love the snow, ah
    L: Why?
B: Well, it is so beautiful, see that tree
L: It looks like it’s got white fluffy fur
B: Hmm, it does. That’s one reason I loved the snow
L: What’s another reason you loved the snow?
B: Well, I love making footprints in the snow
L: Oh, look at them. This is so big and look at my footprints
    B: That’s so little
L: I’m going to find little field mouse. I bet she loved the snow too. Good-bye
    M: Boo
    L: I’ll get you
M: I’ll get you more. Look, it’s snowing
    L: Oh, it’s so quiet
M: These snowflakes are enormous. I’ve never seen them so big
L: Oh, look, it’s beautiful, really beautiful. That’s another reason to love the snow. I’m going to give this snowflake to big nut brown hare
    M: Let’s go
L: It’s gone. The snowflake is gone. Where did it go?
M: It must have melted. You have to catch another one. It’s a different pattern to the other one
L: I like this one even more. Big nut brown hare is going to love this one. Look, it’s melting
M: Your palm must be too warm. It’s gone
L: How am I going to stop this snowflake from melting
M: Hmm, I don’t know. But I know someone clever who might is.
    L: Hey, wait for me
M: Little redwood fox, do you know how to stop snowflakes from melting.
L: We want to give one to big nut brown hare
    F: Let’s see. I have an idea
    L&M: Great
L: Let me catch another snowflake. Look at this one. This one is very special and pretty.
F: Right we need to be quick, little field mouse, grab some snow. Now, put this snowflake in the snow. Now roll the snow into a ball. There the snowflake is inside the snowball. There’s no way it will melt now.
    L: Thanks, fox, how clever
F: Let’s find big nut brown hare
L: Wait. Can I just have one more peek of snowflake before I give it to him
    M: Of course
L: Oh, where is it? I can’t find it
M: It’s got all my stuff in the snowball
    F: Oh, my dear
L: Never mind, little redwood fox. It wasn’t a good idear. And I can catch another snowflake
    M: Yes
L: But how can I keep it cold enough and it doesn’t melt and still able to find it
F: What else to keep it cold, really cold
M: I know, I know. The snow cave is cold
    L: That’s a great idea
    F: Follow me
M: We’re here ,we are here. Catch another snowflake, little nut brown hare
L: Ok, it is cold in here. This is the most most beautiful snowflake of all
    M: Is it melting?
    L: No
    F&M: Yeah
L: This is definitely the snowflake to show big nut brown hare. Then he’ll have another reason to love the snow. He’ll love it. It is very special.
M: It’s really snugnessss in the snow cave
    F: Hmm, nice and warm
    L: Warm! It’s melting too
    M: Guick, everybody out
    L: Oh, it’s gone
    F: It stops snowing
L: There’s no more snowflakes to catch. I don’t have the snowflake to give to big nut brown hare, but I did find another reason to love the snow
    F&M: Yeah
M: That will make him happy
L: Big nut brown hare, big nut brown hare. Guess what, I found another reason to love the snow
    B: Oh, you did?
L: Snowflakes are really really special. They are all in different patterns
    M: Every one
B: Every single one. Oh, that’s a good reason to love the snow
L: And I found the most most beautiful snowflake
    M: But it melted
B: Oh, what did it look like?
L: Well, this is a bit like a star. Like this
B: A bit, here, and then there
M: The star with branches on it?
F: Oh, right in the middle there was a flower shape
L: And this big and this big remember. Yes. Do you like it?
B: Oh, that is a very snowflake
    L: It’s for you
B: Thank you little nut brown hare, thank you everyone. That’s the most beautiful snowflake I have ever seen
    L: It is?
B: Because it came from you
N: It was getting close to the bedtime for the nut brown hares, but little nut brown hare has one more game to play
L: But guess how much I love you
B: Let’s see, more than all the reasons to love the snow
L: More than that, more than all the different patterns of all the snowflakes
B: Well, that is a lot
