The intimate and endearing stories of lion, leopard and cheetah cubs living in the Masai Mara in Kenya.
Bringing all the drama, charm and characters of the much-loved wildlife documentary Big Cat Diaries to a younger audience, Little Big Cat tells stories through the eyes of lion, leopard and cheetah cubs.
In 2008 the Big Cat Diary team returned once again to the Masai Mara Range to follow the trials, tribulations and joyful successes of the big cats that inhabit it. Aimed at a pre-school audience, Little Big Cat uses a friendly storyteller to set the scene and introduce the subject of each particular show, while the cubs are given voices by young African children. The high-quality footage itself is taken from the expansive Natural History Unit archive – the very best footage from five years of filming for Big Cat Diary, and focuses on the challenges facing these young cubs when growing up in such a challenging environment.
Alongside the cheetahs, lions and leopards, the show also gives young viewers the chance to encounter the other animals living in the Reserve; elephant, giraffe, zebra, crocodile and many more – all in the rich photography associated with the adult show. With its friendly, accessible style and a variety of characters and storylines, this show will entertain the audience and introduce them to the magnificent landscapes and environmental diversity of Africa.
1. Kito and the Rain
Lion cub Ndogo loves to splash and play in the puddles with his brothers and sisters.
2. Hide and Seek
Kito the cheetah cub is playing at hiding from a big baboon.
3. Family Life
Kumi wants to be like his dad when he grows up and learns how to roar.
4. Learning
The leopard cubs have a lot to learn before they can become big cats.
5. Making Friends
Neema the lion cub makes friends with the mongooses by playing a game of peekaboo.
6. Moja and the Wheelyphant
The cheetah cubs find the perfect shady spot, under a sleeping wheelyphant.
7. The Leopards Move Home
Leopard cubs Jua and Paka try their best to jump over the river.
8. Kali The Lion Gets Wet
Kali the lion cub learns to jump across the stream.
9. Best of Friends
Kumi and his cousin run into a large herd of scary buffalo.
10. Mbile Climbs a Tall Tree
Mbile the cheekiest cheetah cub finds it really frustrating not being tall enough.
