No.1 Go for a drive:
Going on pretend journeys might help make real journey more fun.
Toddlers often love to drive a car. You can give your toddler a steering wheel (a large lid or a ring of cut-out cardboard), and sit her on your knee, ready to go for a drive.
Holding your toddler around her waist, set off on a drive together
Make car noises, toot at friends you see, go around corners, stop suddenly and go vrooming up and down hills.
Ask your toddler to go faster or slower, to wave at passers-by and talk about what you see.

No2. Catch me if you can
You can play catching and chasing games whether your child is crawling or up and walking.
Push up to your toddler and then run away again and you will find she may try to catch you.

Add to the fun by looking as if you are trying to run away-make lots of little steps, hide behind corners and pretend scream.
If your baby is still crawling, she will probably enjoy it more if you crawl rather than run away.
You can turn the game around by rushing after your child, saying "I'm coming to get you."
Let your baby get away a few times. When you do catch her, scoop her up and tickle her, saying"I'v got you!"

No3. Peepo!
Most babies and toddlers love hidding games. You can play a simple game of 'peepo' by encouraging your baby to hide, then call out his name so can he can pop out and surprise you.
This game wroks even if your baby is just hide behind his hands.

You could play by putting a clean muslin or scarf over your baby's head. Say 'Where's baby?'(using baby's name)until he pulls the cloth off-usually to delighted giggle.
Try playing 'peepo'with a towel at bathtime and under the sheets in the morning.
You could try hiding behind the furniture yourself and seeing if your baby can come and find you. Say 'Boo!'once your baby has found you.

No4. Water play
You can have fun dropping pebbles into puddles.
Playing with water needn't be restricted to bathtime. Find puddles or a local pond or stream, show your child how to drop stones in and listen for the splashing sound.

If it's a sunny day, fill a washing-up bowl or baby bath with water, and let your toddler play wirh bath toys in it.
Once your child is walking, you can go out together after it's been raining and have fun splashing in muddy puddles.
Dress your toddler in waterproof clothes and boots.
Make sure you supervise your child at all times near water.

No5 Naming games
Say 'Here's your cup' Whenever you give it to your toddler, then ask hime to pass it back to you.
At this stage your toddler is rapidly learning new words, even if he can't say them yet. You can reinforce what he knows and help him expand his vocabulary with naming games.

Hold up a few objects in front if your child and say their names clearly. After you've done this a few times, start placing them around the room and ask your toddler to find them for you.
You can reinforce the message by going over to the object and saying 'Here's teddy!' (for example).
When your child does find the object, be sure to congratulate him.
You could also ask your child to point out objects or animals in picture books, or play naming games with picture flashcards.

No6 Fun with straws
Plastic drinking straws can make a versatile toy . Show your toddler how to line them up end to end, blow through them, or use them as a counting aid when you say counting rhymes.

A counting rhyme to say your toddler

Five fat sausages sizzling in a pan,
All of a sudden, one went BANG!

Four fat sausages sizzling in a pan,
All of a sudden, one went BANG!

Three fat sausages sizzling in a pan,
All of a sudden, one went BANG!

Two fat sausages sizzling in a pan,
All of a sudden, one went BANG!

One fat sausages sizzling in a pan,
All of a sudden, one went BANG!

No more sausages sizzling in a pan!

No7 Fill the bottle
This game is great for improving co-ordination. All you need is a plastic pot or bottle and a collection of objects.

You could use large buttions, pasta shapes, large beads, dry cereal or raisins.
Encourage your toddler to put the objects into the pot or bottle, although he may want to tip them out as well.
You can add to the game by countung as you go, or by pointing out different colours--though don't expect your child to remember them at this age.

You'll need to supervise closely to make sure your child doesn't put anything in his moouth or up his nose.

paulinaliu81 发表于 2012-11-15 07:41:29

No8 Book time
Encourage your toddler to point at the pictures in books.
There are various ways you can build books into your toddler's daliy routine, from leaving books in his cot for the morning to reading bedtime stories at night.

Keep your toddler's books on a low shelf or in a box on the floor, so your toddler can acess them whenever he wants. Encourage your toddler to choose the book he'd like to read with you.
Let your toddler turn the pages if he wants to, and don't worry if he loses interest after afew pages---just leave it for another day.
Try taking your toddler to the library to borrow books too.

NO9 Baby's cupboard
As soon as babies can get around, they start exploring all the things you'd rather they didn't, such as kitchen cupboards. You could create a safe cupboard for your baby to investigate.

Fill the cupboard with safe things such as plastic pots, spatulas, spoons and small saucapan lids.
Vary what you keep in the cupboard, so there's always something of interest. You could also keep some of your child's books and toys in the cupboard.
Encourage your children to put everything back after he's played with it.
You'll need to put child-proof locks on any other cupboard your baby can reach.

No10 Sorting games
Your toddler may just be getting interested in sorting things, and you can encourage this by letting her 'help' you around the house.

Show your toddler how to put shos and socks into pairs or put different kinds of fruit into separate bowls.
If you have a set of blocks, you could try sorting them into piles according to color.
Shape-sorting toys are also good for this age, although you may need to show what fits where. Your toddler might also find it fun to play with plastic nesting cups, fitting them inside each other.

No11 Rolling games
Toddlers often love to roll things down ramps and slopes. Use a chopping board resting on a pile of books and roll down a ball or wheely toy together.
Show your toddler how to roll a ball then let him try to do it.

Alternatively, you could use a cardboard tube, such as a used kitchen roll or gift wrap tube, and a small ball (although any small round object will do).
Show your baby what happens when you roll the ball down the tube- he may be very excited to see it come out of the other end.
You could also cut the tube open, so your baby can watch the ball as it rolls down.

NO12 Just like a grown-up
Your baby may take a while to work out how to hold the phone to his ear.
If you have an old mobile phone, your baby will probably love playing with it because he's seen you using somthing similar. Take out the batteries and SIM card and give it a good clean before you hand it over.

You can use the phone ti have pretend telephone conversations with your baby.
Make ringing noises and say 'Look, the phone is ringing for you,' then put your baby on the phone and use familiar words such as 'hello' and 'bye bye'.
Try putting your baby on your home phone to friends and relatives as well. He'll enjoy hearing familiar voices, although at first he might be interested in just pressing the buttons.

NO13 Jelly babies
Many toddlers enjoys messy play. Make some jelly and see if your toddler enjoys squishing it up and feeling its texture. It doesn't matter if some ends up in her mouth.

Show your toddler how to pick the jelly up on a spoon and see if she can it herself.
You can also do finger painting with jelly by adding enough water to make a gooey consistency. Then show your toddler how to smear it across a large sheet of paper.
To avoid to much mess, tie back your toddler's hair, dress her in an apron and lay down newspaper on the floor.

Most toddlers love making noise. You could buy simple instruments or make your own from household objects and play along to music.
Encourage your toddler to dance as she plays.

Show your toddler how to bang a wooden spoon on a saucepan lid in time to music.
You could also give your toddler a shaker made out of rice, lentiles or dried beans in a sealed plastic bottle.
You could try other fillings as well, such as coins, buttons or pasta, in a cardbboard tube with the ends taped over.

Inspect you 'instruments' regularly too make sure they're safe and supervise your toddler when she plays with them.

No15 Out and about
Plan local trips for your toddler, such as a trip to a nearby farm, pet shop, market or child-friendly museum.
Zoo trips are usually with toddlers.

Talk to your toddler about the trip beforehand, look at photographs or pictures in books.
Plan the trip around your child's nap time and take snacks and a drink for the journey.
You could also take photographs of the day itself and stick them into a scrapbook, so that you can look back over it together and make it a day to remember.
