请问“get grounded”是什么意思？

在A to Z mysteries里面看到一句话：“Whenever I'm late，I get grounded.” 请问哪位妈妈知道，这里的“get grounded”是什么意思？先谢了~

我印象中，在美剧中听到过这一句话，我记得意思是，被禁足了，不能够出家门的意思。 比如说，晚上家长规定10点前必须到家，你迟到了，下次就禁止你出去了。

呵呵， 美国人比较喜欢用这种方式来惩罚孩子，You are grounded! 这对美国孩子来说，似乎是很痛苦的一件事情。

Grounded can refer to any punishment that a parent gives to their kid that lasts usually more than a day.
It can include not being allowed to go out, not being allowed to use the computer, or not being able to use their car.
