Think in English
几年前一个美国朋友来中国, 由于开始的时候基本不懂中文, 所以常混迹于主要用英语交流的中国日报论坛.她从哪儿学中文, 也教别人英语.
我特别认同这个朋友的一个观点: 学某一种语言时, 除了听说读写, 还可以/应该用这种语言文化的特点思考.
下面就是转的这个朋友的帖子:
What did you "think in English" today?
You know these 4:
Reading
Writing
Listening
Speaking
What about THINKING?!?!?
People say you will reach this point after years of study, when you are fluent. NO! You can think in English NOW. Just do it. It will help you improve all those other 4 categories!
For example, you are home cooking dinner. Think in your mind:
"I'm putting water in the pot. Now I'm turning the stove on (use some chinese words if you don' t know the english ones)... now I am cutting the vegetables... oh maybe I need more 葱，is there more in the refrigerator? I'll go look. ... Now I am cutting the chicken. I hope I don't cut my finger. I remember a long time ago my mother cut her finger.... blah blah blah..."
Think in English...
on the subway/bus
at work
while shopping
walking down the street
in the bathroom
laying in bed at night
getting ready for work in the morning
EVEN IF IT"S WRONG or half chinese! It's ok, it's better than nothing!
I think in chinese sometimes.
On the subway, watching the video that showed video of the new subway, there were no words, so I imagined what they might say, and it was quite funny in my mind:
"你看，北京的最新的地铁！ 很干净， 你看那个垃圾桶？(because the video showed a garbage can) 你一定要用！ 别 litter! 但是，如果别人litter, 没问题， 你看那个工人打扫？ (the video showed a lady cleaning).... 你 看， 这个地铁最快的！ 比汽车快！ 比自行车快！(it showed a car and bike, then a person) 这个地铁比老人快！ 当然你很爱坐我们的地铁！
haha...
I imagined that in my mind in a funny way, and I almost laughed on the subway, and it was silly fun little practice to remember some words, like cleaning, and garbage can, and to compare things (比).... so even if it's not perfect, you see, it can be very useful and fun.
Now I will go make a cup of tea in chinese.

不能用所学的外语思考的话, 也许学出来的还是有母语特色的外语.
i nthink that's really a try. 好难啊，呵呵，跟孩子一起进步 我是做不到。所以英语学不好。不过最近在论坛学到了好多东东。 所言甚是！另，图像法也是培养英语思维的好途径。就是思考的时候想着画面或者情境，而跳过中文这个语言载体。要不经过“翻译”出来的话永远比英语思维慢一拍。而图像思维和英语思维是同步的。 楼主是高手啊，向您学习！
