2013-6-7 14:00 static/image/common/back.gif

So that is conditioning them to the language to whatever culture they are in.
It is, it increased their attention to what we are saying and how we are saying it, it is both emotional satisfying and it has linguistic information that's simplier for their brains to process.
Is it also true that your research suggests that babies are much better than grown-ups at learning another language, a new languare?
Yes, biologists call this a critical period and language is just the best examples we have, 0-7 children are phenomanal at their ability to simply absorb, ah, information of the language by listening to it, as you move towards puberty, that completely changes, after puberty, it's much, much more difficult.
Oh, no wonder I have such a hard time learning Spanish and French.
Yes, that's ture, and what the babies are doing is so interesting to study is we are learning some of the magic they apply to language learning information early, and maybe we can do something to help adults learn later in life.
Is there a window of opportunity? does that mean that at some point, the window would slam shut?
It definitely narrows, it doesn't mean........
It doesn’t mean that’s impossible but narrows. If you think the physiology of the brain that synapses in the first three years of life are growing in a huge and fast rapid way. Synapses are being the connections between… Synapses are the connections between the neurons. And that’s the way information is communicated. And so at age of three, children have three times of the synapses that we have as adults. Um… As they move from the babyhood to the teenagers, one of another major revolution is going on. They prune synapses as we prune rose bushes to make the remaining connections more strong. They are pruning synapses that are not been used…
