There were once two cats of Kilkenny,
Each thought there was one cat too many.
So they fought and they fit.
And they scratched and they bit.
Till, excepting their nails and the tips of their tails,
Instead of two cats, there weren't any.

这里的fit，也是fight的意思，是 the dialectal past tense of fight。最后一句“到最后再不是两只猫了，而是什么都没有了”。(前边说了 两只猫又抓又咬，吃的只剩下他们的指甲和尾巴了)
