Finally the day of the big pony tournament has arrived! Everyone is well trained to give his or her best in the different events today. Who will win the most tournament cards and be, in the end, the happy winner of the big pony trophy?

Game Idea
The tournament cards show the events the ponies are competing in. Each child turns over one of his or her pony cards and hopes to make the highest score. Only the one who uncovers the biggest horseshoe with the matching color will receive a point. But watch out! As the order of the pony cards changes over and over again, good memory skills – and a bit of luck – are required to win the exciting tournament.
Preparation of the Game
There are tournament cards and pony cards. The front of each of the tournament cards show one of the four events you can compete in with your pony. Each is marked with an edge in a different color.
The fronts of the pony cards show a range of different sized horse- shoes. The further up a colored horseshoe is hanging (thus the larger it is) the better for the pony when it comes to the corresponding discipline.
Shuffle the tournament cards and place them with the event side face down to form a path. Each player chooses a pony and takes the six corresponding pony cards. Shuffle your pony cards and place them with the horseshoe face down in a row in front of you. Next, each player takes a carrot.
How to Play
Play in a clockwise direction. Whoever has ridden a pony or a horse most recently may start and turns over the first tournament card of the path so that all players can see it clearly.
Now try to turn over the pony card showing the largest horseshoe of the corresponding color.
Then, one by one, the other players also turn over one of their pony cards.
Who has turned over the largest horseshoe of the matching color?
Bravo! Your pony has won this event. You receive the tournament card as a reward and keep it next to you. This pony now has a rest. Take the pony card out of the row and place it face down apart from others. To feed the pony, place the carrot on it. The carrot stays there until you are the best in another event. Then the successful pony card is placed underneath the carrot and the card which was there is returned to fill the gap left free in the row of cards.
Watch out:
If various players have turned over a horseshoe of the same size and matching color, those players immediately turn over another pony card and compare the horseshoes. This is repeated until it is clear who is the winner of the event in question.
Then all the pony cards are turned over again. The winner of the tour- nament card now turns over the next tournament card and one of his pony cards. The game continues as described above.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as the last tournament card has been distribut- ed. The child who won the most tournament cards is the happy winner.
