美国电视节目的分级制度
前的电视分级制度是在1996年由全国广播电视联盟（National Association of Broadcasters）、全国有线电视联盟（National
Cable Television Association ）美国电影协会（Motion Picture Association of America 也就是著名的MPAA）共同制定的。
分级的信息会在节目开始时候显示在屏幕上，通常是左上方，时间是15秒，如果节目时间长于1小时，那么在以后的开始的每小时
都要显示分级信息。（实际显示时间大约是10-15秒，有些电视台并没有严格执行标准）
*电视节目总共分为以下 7个等级*
第一级 TV-Y All Children，适合所有儿童
第二级 TV-Y7 Directed to Older Children 适合7岁以上儿童观看。
第三级 TV-Y7-FV Directed to Older Children-Fantasy Violence,
FV(Fantasy Violence)幻想暴力，更多是指卡通动画里面出现与现实有明显区别暴力情况，同样也适用于现实生活节目。
第四级 TV-G General Audience 普通观众
节目是不适合儿童以外的电视节目，这个分级的节目不能有性、暴力、成人语言。
第五级 TV-PG Parental Guidance Suggested 父母指导
这个分级节目仅仅允许提供比较温和、少量的性方面对话和暴力。
第七级TV-MA Mature Audience Only 成人节目
这个分级的节目只允许17岁以上的，包括暴力的描写、性的活动描写、粗俗的下流的语言。
