Fine motor skills are the foundation children need before they learn handwriting, in order to have proper pencil grasp and control of a writing instrument.
This activity of using tongs, the child gets to use her hand and finger muscles to squeeze the tongs in order to pick up each item and place it in the provided bowl. This is a great activity to train those fine motor muscles as well as eye-hand coordination skills.
