摘自fionafanfan 的纽奖目录，以后买书有个参考。紐伯瑞兒童文學獎（Newbery Medal），又稱紐伯瑞獎。1744年英國印刷商人紐柏瑞先生首開風氣，將兒童出版物上，加寫『娛樂』兩個字，他為兒童設計的第一本書，書名叫：美麗小書，這是世界上第一本專門的兒童書，並開辦了世界上第一家專門的兒童書店，從此他不斷改進，印刷發行了許多精美的兒童圖書，深受兒童喜歡，由於他打破當時保守的風氣，崇尚的「快樂至上」的兒童教育觀念，開闢英美兒童文學之路，所以後人稱紐柏瑞為——兒童文學之父，紐柏瑞的貢獻對於兒童文學，可以說是個重要的里程碑。
紐伯瑞獎（The Newbery Medal for Best Children's Book）是由美國圖書館學會（American Library Association - ALA）的分支機構—— 美國圖書館兒童服務學會(Association for Library Service to Children - ALSC)於1922年為紀念紐伯瑞而創設的獎項。
這個獎每年頒發一次，專門獎勵上一年度出版的英語兒童文學優秀作品。每年頒發金獎（Newbery Medal Aword）一部、銀獎（Newbery Honor Books）一部或數部。
