How Should Parents Help Children to Be Independent?

It is well known that nowadays children are not as independent as their parents' generation, since China government began to implement the Family Planning Policy more than thirty years ago, One Couple One Child, which means that one couple is only allowed to give a birth to one child.
This result in the phenomenon that four-two-one family structure mostly are made up in China now, so children get 6 times affection than ever, and they tend to do a little to take care of themselves, gradually and largely they become dependent.
To help children to be independent, in my opinion, we can measure it from two aspects.
Firstly, the parents should have a correct concept that to spoil children equals to harm them. Children have to face life by themselves sooner or later, and parents cannot accompany them forever, parents abolished the right of children when they get deal with everything of their children. As a human being, children have the rights to act themselves. We all reluctant to see that, someday in future, our children even cannot make a living. Then the meaning of raising children is lost.
Last but not least, parents should take some efficient ways of improving the ability of youngsters as an independent. Parents encourage children to do something by themselves when they are small, and reward them in return.
With gradual efforts, parents can take some human resource management, for example, design a form. Via completing the targets on the form, children can get points accordingly, then accumulating the points in order to get what they want, such as having a good day in the playground, seeing a movie, having a gift or a book, and enjoying a supper in a restaurant.
Through such means, children have to understand everything can be achieved through their efforts and find that the help from their parents is appreciated but not depended; only THEY are the main actor of their lives.
