As you know, the author of this book is C.S. Lewis & this story was happened during World War Two. Now I’d like to share with you more information about the author and the air-raids.
C.S. Lewis was a professor, he grew up in Ireland. He loved stories about children’s magical adventure. Unfortunately, when Lewis was only nine years old, his beloved mother died of cancer, his father sent him to a brutal school. Eventually, he left that bad school to study with an old family friend. During World Two when a group of children were evacuated from the air raids in London and brought to live with him, Lewis decided to write a magical story for them, the story then became The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
I 'm sure you still remember the air-raids at beginning of the move. Yes, that was comaned by Adolph Hitler, the military and political leader of Germany. Hitler wanted to invade England as he already had conquered most of Europe. The situation of England seemed hopeless. But the English Royal Air Force was able to keep the German airfore from gaining control of air. Without the control of the air, Germany would not be able to invade England. Hitler began to bomb the London city and other English cities. They want to break the spirit of the English people so as to pressure Prime Minister into surrendering. Instead of breaking their spirit, it brought English people together to face the same terrible enemy and finally won the battle.
