Queen Victoria ruled Great Britain for 64 years .(1837--1901) She became queen when she was 18 years old . She was short but very graceful . She had beautiful blue eyes and an attractive voice .
In 1840 she married Prince Albert . They led a happy life and had nine children . He helped her a lot in her political life . She was , therefore , very sad when her husband died . In fact , she wore black clothes for the rest of her life and she did not appear in the public for ten years after Albert's death .
Finally she overcame her grief and began to appear more often . In the last twenty years of her reign , she was very popular among the British people . In 1901 , when she died , everyone realized that an age was over .
