The interesting difference between cloudy and overcast -
Cloudy is used when there are clouds but not continuous in the sky, in other words, there are gaps where the sunlight can go through. This is generally a subconcept of sunny in my view.
Overcast, on the other hand, is used when there are continuous clouds high up there, not letting any sunlight be seen. Kind of synonym with 'fully cloudy'.
