[答疑解惑] 请问What day is today?和What day is it today?的区别

如题，我只知道前者回答用 It is ... 后者是 Today is... 。请问还有什么区别，百度说What day is it today是指今天是什么日子。比如说是某某某的生日。纪念日。然后问这么一句话。而What day is today是指今天是星期几。是这样吗？儿子问What day is it today中的it 是什么格（我们在学人称代词时遇到这么个题），为什么这么用，我水平有限，请坛子里的高手帮忙解释一下。谢谢！！

前者的回答是 TOday is monday。后者是It is 。。。

"What day is today?" usually refers to the days of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
"What's the date today?" usually refers to the days of the months (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.)

Otherwise it's perfectly fine to answer "It's Valentine's Day", "It's Christmas!", "It's your birthday!" to "What day is it today."
But usually people won't ask that. They already know that it's Valentine's, Christmas, or their birthday.
