Food adventurer Stefan Gates is on a mission to make mealtimes memorable, serving up dishes you can only dream
of. From sampling duck tongues, fried brains and insect burgers to uncovering exactly what goes into an everyday
hotdog, this is a food show like no other.
Incredible Edibles is a new wild and adventurous food show for kids but with a serious message behind it. Yet it
seeks to encourage kids to be healthier not by telling them what they should and shouldn’t eat, but to “inspire
them to find food fascinating, fun and… okay… just a little bit naughty. But it’s the best way I can think of
to help our kids become happier and healthier and to turn Britain back into a nation of real food-lovers.”So says presenter Stefan Gates who will be involved in a range of foodie activities including cooking with a JCB, sampling braised duck tongues, uncovering exactly what goes into an everyday hotdog, and engineering a rocket-powered baking powder.
The show has just been commissioned so we’re not sure when it will come to air on CBBC. It’s sure to be a
welcome addition to the schedules though. Kids want to watch something fun, yet at the same time we have to do
something about the increasing threat of childhood obesity and unhealthy lifestyles. Offering a guilt-free way
for children to understand food from a young way has to be a positive step.
Incredible Edibles: Gutbusters
Series 1
1. Sugar
Stefan sees how high a rocket powered by just one cube of sugar can fly.
2. Cheese
Stef has a go at making cheese the way that nature does - inside a cow\'s stomach.
3. Burned
Stef and his studio audience discover foods that taste better burnt.
4. Popcorn
Stef knocks up a cannon that delivers a popcorn power shower.
5. Raw
Stef explores ways to cook food without using heat.
6. Potatoes
Stef feeds three unlucky volunteers breakfasts from around the world.
7. Marshmallow
Stef makes a huge homemade marshmallow that needs a flamethrower to toast it.
8. Vegetarian
Stef explores a diet without meat.
9. Medieval
Stef steps back in time to create a menu from the Middle Ages.
10. Fish
Stef and the gang try out everything from seaweed to sea snails.
