British Curriculum -The National Curriculum for England
What is the National Curriculum for England?
This is a broad and balanced curriculum covering all the major arts, sciences and humanities subjects and is taught in 150 countries across the world. It is based on a comprehensive framework that outlines expected levels of achievement and attainment through all stages of a student’s school life.

The curriculum develops specific skills and competencies but also emphasises critical thinking, enquiry, creativity, planning and other skills needed to meet the challenges of a changing world.
Children are seen as active learners and expected to discuss ideas and debate with their teachers and peers. They work in groups and teams as well as individually.
Key features:
  • Established in 1988
  • Popular in international schools world wide
  • Broad, balanced and student centred
  • Includes regular national benchmarking
  • Culminates in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, AS and A level certification
  • Recognised by universities worldwide

American Curriculum
The American curriculum is based on American standards of achievement in all subject areas, supported by a huge range of co-curricular activities that ensure students have the opportunity to develop fully as individuals.
It includes enquiry-based, hands-on teaching methods and learning strategies geared to individualized instruction.
Any American curriculum refers to a broad and balanced Kindergarten to Year 12 [K-12] program commencing with entry to Kindergarten at age 5 and concluding with the award of the American High School Diploma on successful completion of Grade 12, at age 17.
The American diploma is accepted for entrance by all US universities and colleges, and is increasingly recognized by international schools of higher education.
The quality of the American diploma is ensured by institutional accreditation and our American curricula schools are accredited by groups such as the highly respected Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
Key features:
·         Offered by ‘American’ schools worldwide
·         Well regarded for entrance to US and Canadian universities
·         Generic curriculum which is adapted by individual schools
·         Broad, balanced and student centered
·         Benchmarked by standardized tests
·         Leads to SAT and advanced placement test for university admission
International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers high quality programmes of international education. The three IB programmes for students, aged 3 to 19, help to develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalising world.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The programmes are modelled on elements of educational systems from around the world but the end result is a different curriculum.

It began originally as a programme for internationally mobile students but now works with 2,984 schools in 139 countries to bring the curriculum to approximately 831,000 students worldwide.

The three IB programmes are:
·         The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is for students aged 3 to 12
·         The Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11 to 16
·         The Diploma Programme (DP), for students in the final two years of school before university
Key features:
·         Established since 1969
·         Emphasises an international outlook
·         Recognised by universities worldwide
·         Considered the broadest international curriculum, balance of subjects a key feature
·         Introduces an independent research model of learning at the Diploma level
·         School-driven formative assessment
·         Available at Primary, Middle and Diploma levels
