salt and pepper是常见的调料，拿个小瓶子装着放桌上的，这里指帮忙洗装盐和胡椒的小瓶子。

Salt is a mineral substance composed primarily of sodium chloride

所以严格的说，当用到salts时，这个已经不是我们通常意义的食盐了。

peppers

When pepper means "A spice prepared from the fermented, dried, unripe red berries of this plant", it is uncountable.

所以，用于调料的胡椒类的pepper应该是不可数的。

不知道为啥作者要用salts and peppers，很希望能有知道的朋友解惑一下哦。
