Arthur's science fair trouble
学校举办科学展览,让孩子们各自准备一件科学模型,亚瑟在自家阁楼找到爸爸当年的作品,修修补补之后带到学校交给了老师。由于“剽窃”他人作品,亚瑟一直忐忑不安,而最后这件作品还获奖了,只不过得到 blue ribbon 的人是爸爸,老师让亚瑟向大家解释这件事情并且重新做一件自己的科学模型,爸爸让亚瑟向家人解释这件事情,妹妹 DW 闻此,对亚瑟说“You are in trouble”,“You are in double trouble”。
前一天和妞读的那本 Arthur in a pickle,也是类似的事情,都是因为做错事情而使自己陷入困境,妞似乎隐约知道 in a pickle 的意思了,上加州课之前假装自己没完成家庭作业,说自己 in a pickle。然后那天还告诉我,神奇校车里她听到过卷毛老师对学生说这句话,卷毛老师让同学们吃什么东西,大家不愿意吃,卷毛老师说“You are in a pickle.”

Arthur in a pickle 讲的是亚瑟因为没有完成家庭作业而撒了慌,老师说了一句“You are in a pickle now.”整个故事围绕pickle展开,文中几乎每页都会出现 pickle 这个词,通过图片,孩子也许meng能猜出这个词的本义,但是 in a pickle 是什么意思呢?不妨拿孩子举个例子,比如我跟妞说你弹琴不认真的时候,爸爸会对你说“You are in a pickle”,不过妞还是没猜出这个词组的意思。

方法:让孩子们英英释义,造句
老师让妞解释pull,妞吭哧吭哧假装很用力:"pull" means pull something to the other side,心里是明白的,没办法用语言解释清楚。DK 词典上的解释:to move something with force towards you or in the same direction as your are going。

每次上完英文网课,当天晚上就会挑本英文书出来读,其他日子依然优先选择中文图书。今天为娘心情好,跟娃细细读图,读完图再让娃读书中的文字,以前只能听我念文字,现在可以自己念了。
1、课前寒暄

两位小同学 Joy 和 Matt 都能准确地运用过去时态回到老师的问题,I went……唯独我家妞对时态丝毫没有概念,她觉得 I don't,I didn't 都是一样的,想到哪个就用哪个。妞还有一个问题,回答完老师的问题后经常添油加醋,说些与问题毫无关系的、自编的、不是句子的句子或单词,没人听得懂。

针对该语法点,在我们做加州练习的时候,我先让妞把题目读一遍,然后让她指出有几个句子,妞根据大写的首字母和句末的句号,能判断出来,第一次了解了 sentence 这个简单的概念。

妞的两位新同学都是11年出生的,都比妞小。Matt 小朋友异常活跃,妞也是活跃份子,两人一起 high 起来,课堂一度有点失控,不过最后在老师和家长的干涉下,两人都能安静下来,另外 Matt 的拼读能力比较强,比如他能拼出 maganifying glass 这样的单词,而我家妞还只能拼出 cat、dog 这样的短词。Joy 小朋友性格相对沉稳,老师没叫他,他基本不会说话,话不多,但是发音不错,上课过程中一直乐高不离手,是个小乐高迷,虽然一边听课一边玩,但老师的问题却都听到了,能回答正确,而我家妞缺少聆听别人的习惯,Joy 妈妈说妞口齿伶俐,话也多,但她经常答非所问,自画自说。妞第一次上一对多的网课,觉得很好玩、热闹、搞笑,相比一对一的网课,她说更喜欢有其他小朋友一起上课。也好,因为马上小学一年级了,要学会多聆听别人,同时有了学伴,就有了比较,取长补短,每个小朋友都有自己擅长的部分和优点。
课堂主要有以下几部分内容:
1、寒暄并引出主题 make friends。
老师依次问孩子们 What did you do last weekend?
怎么样对待自己的朋友?妞回答要把好吃的食物分享给好朋友。
2、学习字母 M 的发音
老师 show 了一张图片,一共九样物品,让孩子们举手说出物品的名称,所有物品均以字母 m 开头。
3、句型 I can 和 Can I
比如 I can see a map,后面的名称同样是 m 开头的单词,与本课拼读内容相辅相成。
4、复习
抛开图片,大家一起回忆今天学过的 m 开头的单词,也可以说出孩子们自己知道的其他 m words,就是我前两天和妞玩的“飞花令”一样。
5、课后练习
画图并写出三个句子:I can see…… 物品名称是 m 开头的单词。
