There are 3 types of word problems commonlyused. They are story problems, single step problems and multi-step problems.
Story problems are those used in first gradewhere students are asked to add the number of ducks in the picture. Most of thetime teachers give simple single-step problems that use predictable method tosolve. This does not help the child in problem analysis and problem solving.
Singapore Math worksheet problems are mostlymulti-step in nature and are more challenging for the child. It provides therigour to develop the child’s thinking.
