   第二语言关于词快和意群的学习-----The Lexical Approach
外教讲述:
I just wanted to mention some less abstract ideas about learning.

Today, I'll briefly introduce one of our techniques, the Lexical Approach.

"It is our ability to use lexical phrases that helps us to speak with fluency. This prefabricated speech has both the advantages of more efficient retrieval and of permitting speakers (and learners) to direct their attention to the larger structure of the discourse, rather than keeping it narrowly focused on individual words as they are produced" (Nattinger and DeCarrico 1992).

The basic principle of the lexical approach, then, is: "Language is grammaticalised lexis, not lexicalised grammar" (Lewis 1993).

Michael Lewis recognized that one of the weaknesses of the natural methods and the more old fashioned grammar based approaches was not enough emphasis on the importance of vocabulary to achieve fluency.
But he didn't think of vocabulary in the traditional sense, and certainly not in the way it is taught in Chinese schools. (e.g. long lists of words grouped by theme, such as 'clothes' or 'things in the classroom'.)
Native speakers have a huge repetoire of chunks, stock phrases, collocations, etc. that free up "working memory" and allow for more meaningful and fluent use of language. (See above)
Lexis has 4 categories:
1) Vocabulary, individual words.
2) Collocations (words that are commonly found together, such as quick shower)
3) fixed and idiomatic expressions (make a promise, give a smile)
4) Formulaic sentences and sentence patterns (e.g. "The trouble with _____ is _____")

Miss Amy:
教学中就着重于词汇链和意群的学习在二语学习中的重要性。就比如说这个和cold相关的词汇,catch a cold. Have a cold。
在传统教学中,学生记忆一大堆词汇,比如说学习衣服这个系列的时候,就学一大堆相关的衣服词汇,这种学习方式并不能帮助孩子对词汇量,意群的掌握。
对于本土人,他们已经有大量的词快.固定词组,表达。比如说 很常用的,粉红猪小妹里面,Peppa and George are having a lot of fun(doing)..... guess what we've been doing? let me think.... that's not funny....run along, if you.....,you must....
Lexis分成四个部分:
1. 单独的词汇 比如说,check, grab......
2. 词快,比如说find out....has got to be....  early bird...  
3. 固定表达和符合语言习惯的习语 比如粉红小猪里面,has madebreakfast, take it so well, have visitors, get better, come straight around. not very well
4. 就是一些固定的句子结构,就比如我刚才举的例子,if you jump in muddle puddles, you must wear you boots. if......,you must...... . George is too little to play. too.....to.

    其实,每个人的母语中,这套把戏早就在自觉自动中使用和创建了,渲染和增强着每个人自己的独特的语言,为自己带来所求的效果和结果。

    所有的研究都滞后于人类的行为数百年或数千年。而且是可怜兮兮的跟在其后的皮毛,很少有走在前面引领人类思维的价值

    所谓词块和意群,不管你怎样称呼它
    孩子靠意念与语境感受上的对应,就可以习得和使用它,虽然习得的,有时并不准确圆满;但成人靠分析性讲解来学习和获得,却离块、群越来越远!

    我自己是从口语从哑巴英语到口语学到比较流利的地步,我当时的学习就是侧重表达,特意学习这些表达,然后有意识的在和外教的谈话中应用,我是她的所有学生里面语言学得最好的一个。不是说,让你靠分析讲解,但是你能够用这个方法,用来设计对话,对于孩子的口语流利度是帮助很大,而且孩子的语法错误也相对少很多。举个简单的例子,粉红猪里有个句子,if you jump in muddy puddles, you must wear your boots. 你可以讲一个故事,I liked going for a ride when i was a little girl, my mom always told me: if you go for a ride, you must wear your helmet.  另外一个例子,George and pepp are having a lot of fun jumping in muddy puddles. 可以问孩子,what are you having fun doing? I am having fun cooking. 也许当孩子暴露于这些大量的表达里会无师自通。但是这种利用词快的整体学习法,会帮助孩子尽快入门。对于在英语上投入的时间少的孩子,尽快通过这些词快和句群的学习积累口语表达。这一研究在第二语言学习领域已经在应用了,相信没有多久就会有结论这种方法是不是对于二语学习有帮助。
