Mom’s Choice Award Winner!
I can do anything I believe I can do. I can be anything I believe I can be. I can achieve anything I want to achieve. I am Haibu.
In the small, northern village Montooka, Haibu always knew she can do anything she wants if she just set her mind to it. One day she tries to prove it and goes fishing all by herself, but a harrowing experience finds her stranded on a drifting piece of ice. Before she knows it, she arrives lost in a completely new land she’s never seen before―New York!
As Haibu discovers the city, she learns about a nearby circus that might have clues that would help her find her way back home. But the circus animals are in serious trouble and need help right away. Haibu and her new friends will have to put their heads together to come up with a plan in order to save the animals before things get worse.
A partner of WildAid, an environmental organization dedicated to protecting wildlife, Haibu teaches children animal conservation and raises awareness about the situations and conditions animals live in the world today.
Review
"Every once in a while there is something that comes along that is wildly entertaining and carries and important message that can positively impact our children's future. Haibu is a wonderful book and I believe everyone of all ages should read it." (Mark Pennell, Global Head of Beacon Pictures)
“When children learn about wildlife and begin loving all the magnificent creatures they will forever fight to protect them. Haibu will lead the children on this important journey with a vital purpose.” (John Baker, Chief Program Officer/Managing Director at WildAid)
"Haibu teaches us all -- no matter what our age -- how we can leave the world a little better place than we found it." (Stephen Stanton, Actor in Star Wars)
"I enjoyed reading Haibu with my 2 ½ year old daughter. The story is told in a nurturing and fun way and my daughter was able to understand more about how we treat animals on this planet. 5 Stars!!" (Laura Berens, owner of Love and Fit and host Time To Be You podcast)
"Haibu: Lost in New York is an enchanting story of friendship, adventure, and courage with a powerful and positive message for children and parents alike. Blake Freeman's charming tale explores the complex relationship between humanity and the natural world through the experiences of a wonderfully inspiring female protagonist. It should certainly be on every book list!" (Natalie Kyriacou OAM, CEO of My Green World)
"Haibu is the book every child must read with a message we all need to hear. Throughout Haibu’s adventure we learn that everything is possible when we lead with love, compassion and connection. Her courageous journey reminds the reader that each of us has the power to choose to make a difference and be a bright shining light in this world." (Jennifer Butler, jennjoycoaching.com)
From the Author
"Haibu is one of the few who has learned how to harness the inner strength that is found in us all. Because of this, she can speak with all animals. She is compassionate by nature, inspiring others to believe that they can make a difference, too. She loves popcorn, singing in the bubble bath, and family game night at home. And her favorite animal? … ALL OF THEM!" (Blake Freeman)
About the Author
Blake Freeman grew up in many midwestern states but lived the majority of his life in Nashville, Tennessee. Since relocating to Los Angeles, he has been in the entertainment business for over 12 years as an actor, director, writer, and producer of film and television. The books he read as a child shaped his view of the world. With that in mind, he has always felt that wild animals need a voice, and therefore Haibu was created.
