[Phonics] 哪些Phonics自然拼读教学方法和教程是有效的呢？

这篇报告开篇就说明了， 这个组织是受命于美国国会。 其使命和目的是
assess the status of research-based knowledge, including the effectiveness of various approaches to teaching children to read.

该组织评估的是教授儿童阅读的方法和教程， 涉及的内容包括：
• Alphabetics
-Phonemic Awareness Instruction
-Phonics Instruction
• Fluency
• Comprehension
-Vocabulary Instruction
-Text Comprehension Instruction
-Teacher Preparation and Comprehension Strategies Instruction
• Teacher Education and Reading Instruction
• Computer Technology and Reading Instruction.

评估的标准是：
1.
Does instruction in phonemic awareness improve reading? If so, how is this instruction best provided?
2.
Does phonics instruction improve reading achievement? If so, how is this instruction best provided?
3.
Does guided oral reading instruction improve fluency and reading comprehension? If so, how is this instruction best provided?
4.
Does vocabulary instruction improve reading achievement? If so, how is this instruction best provided?
5.
Does comprehension strategy instruction improve reading? If so, how is this instruction best provided?
6.
Do programs that increase the amount of children’s independent reading improve reading achievement and motivation? If so, how is this instruction best provided?
7.
Does teacher education influence how effective teachers are at teaching children to read? If so, how is this instruction best provided?

最后就以上阅读的每个方面都给出了总结。

来专心听HI5的课。

Phonics在近几年中传入国内，大家也开始慢慢知道Phonics自然拼读是什么， 能做什么。 尤其是进过市面上的大量的宣传，说Phonics可以让孩子见词能读，听音能拼，对孩子学习单词大有好处之后， 便开始有星星之火， 可以燎原之势。 各种引进的美国的，英国的，台湾的教程，或是自主研发的教程也开始推广开来。

对于培训班的这种“见词能读，听音能拼”的宣传，骏爸曾写过一篇文章：

别盲目相信培训机构对自然拼音法（Phonics）的宣传

对于各种引进和自编的教材和教程， 各位在选用的时候， 也最好先做做功课，先了解一下教程的方法是什么，教程需要如何使用，使用多长时间才能达到教程所说的目标， 再看看是否适合自己的孩子， 然后再购买使用。 就这几点，这里分别说一说：

1， 教程使用的是什么方法：
在上述报告的P7，罗列了几种phonics 的教学方法，分别是：
Phonics Instructional Approaches

Analogy Phonics—Teaching students unfamiliar words by analogy to known words (e.g., recognizing that the rime segment of an unfamiliar word is identical to that of a familiar word, and then blending the known rime with the new word onset, such as reading brick by recognizing that -ick is contained in the known word kick, or reading stump by analogy to jump).

Analytic Phonics—Teaching students to analyze letter-sound relations in previously learned words to avoid pronouncing sounds in isolation.

Embedded Phonics—Teaching students phonics skills by embedding phonics instruction in text reading, a more implicit approach that relies to some extent on incidental learning.

Phonics through Spelling—Teaching students to segment words into phonemes and to select letters for those phonemes (i.e., teaching students to spell words phonemically).

Synthetic Phonics—Teaching students explicitly to convert letters into sounds (phonemes) and then blend the sounds to form recognizable words.

就以上这些自然拼读教学方法， 报告给出的结论是：
1， Systematic synthetic phonics instruction  had a positive and significant effect on disabled readers’ reading skills.
2， Across all grade levels, systematic phonics instruction improved the ability of good readers to spell. The impact was strongest for kindergartners and decreased in later grades. For poor readers, the impact of phonics instruction on spelling was small, perhaps reflecting the consistent finding that disabled readers have trouble learning to spell.
还有其他结论，大家自己看哈。

这里我个人的解读是：
1， 系统的教授Phonics自然拼读，可以提升孩子阅读和拼写能力。 这里并没有提某个方法， 而是需要一个系统性。 系统的教授， 而不是抱有让孩子自己在阅读中自己习得。

2， 报告中提到synthetic phonics instruction 对阅读困难的孩子和没有阅读障碍，但由于某些其他原因， 没有掌握好阅读的孩子，以及处于社会经济弱势的群体孩子的阅读技能有促进作用。

3， 报告中特别强调，不管是哪种方法，都仅仅是方法。 Phonics教学的最终目的， 不是教几个字母和字母组合发音， 或是拼读拼写规则。 它的最终目的是孩子能将这些知识运用到阅读和写作中， 达到自主阅读和书写的目标。
“It is important to recognize that the goals of phonics instruction are to provide children with key knowledge and skills and to ensure that they know how to apply that knowledge in their reading and writing.”

4， 那么有没有一个教程和方法，只有它是伟大正确的，其他都是走弯路，其他方法都是需要批判的呢？ （这话确实看着很可笑哈， 但这绝对不是我的想象，而是网上确实有人在如此的宣扬）
这就又涉及到每个孩子的不同，能力天赋不同，喜好不同，背景知识不同。 家长和老师在挑选教程，或是使用固定教程，那么在教学的时候， 也会有很多地方不同。 不少教程，不是仅仅使用一种方法，也会在不同的阶段， 使用不同的方法。 老师也会根据孩子掌握的情况，采用一些不同的方法来教授。 即：
“teachers need to be flexible in their phonics instruction in order to adapt it to individual student needs.”

也就是说， 方法教程是死的，教师是活的。 教师要根据孩子的需要进行教学活动，使用适合的方法。

对于phonics 的教学方法， 很多教程和老师都不是仅仅的使用一种方法。 比如说

老师可能会上来先教孩子字母和字母读音， 将字母和字母读音联系起来。
一个字母，它的letter name 是什么，它的 letter sound 是什么。 将他们对应起来。 给孩子一个单词或是几个单词， 告诉孩子每个单词中的字母读音是什么，然后将它们拼到一起。 这是典型的systhetic 方法。 之后呢，老师还会让小朋友看看，这几个单词有没有共同点， 让孩子分析总结一下， 这里老师又用到了analogy 的方法。 大家可以看看加州教材中老师教授phonics 的示范录像哈，人家就是这么教的。

上面报告也一再强调， 不论哪种方法， 哪种教程， 都不应该将主要精力和时间放在phonics 的教学上， 而是应该放在孩子的运用上。 自主阅读是一种能力， 而phonics 的发音及其各种规则， 应该最终都是为了孩子能够自主阅读这个目的服务的。 这就像我们学习语法，可以将语法规则倒背如流，可是， 在运用的时候， 却根本用不出来。 自然拼读的规则，如果去问很多美国高中生， 他们甚至不知道某个字母或是字母组合能发多少个音， 都是什么音。 但是，人家看见单词， 可以准确无误的给读出来。

所以说， 请各位家长好好想一想， 规则是规则， 最终看的是运用。 就好象学游泳，在陆地上将游泳要领背的滚瓜烂熟，和下水能游各种姿势，游的快，游的好，还差的远了。

我感觉中国的孩子学完拼音后就可以开始学习拼读了
但是，目前很多家长学习拼读很盲目，不知道这个到底是什么，起什么作用，到底要怎么用才能帮助孩子提高英文学习能力。就是听说这个不错就学了。
感觉更多的家长对phonics有一个系统的了解后，再决定是否学习更好。
单纯学习它确没有后面跟进阅读的话，学了很快就忘记了。

在教自己的女儿学习拼读后的情况，让我一点点感觉，中国的小朋友没有大量的会话基础的情况下，使用phonics的时候跟国外有孩子很不一样。
他们读归读了，发言十分正确，但确实是完全不明白自己读出来的一大段到底是什么意思？
这样子，阅读的兴趣根本不可能提高起来。
所以我现在在带着孩子们玩sight words 通过这样的方法来提高孩子们的词汇能力，当然sightwords 也不能脱离故事来玩。
孩子们通过这样有趣的活动增加了词汇量后发现一些简单的小故事自己不仅能读，而且读完能明白什么意思了，乐趣大增。


再说一个可能不是很符合H版主题的话题：
我这里的一些家长知道了sight words这件事之后，十分心急，马上上网或从我这里要220个高频词，说要用几个月的时间把这些词让孩子集中背熟。
我一再地告诉他们不能这样，这样又回到了我们一直想回避的一件事情，就是把英文学习痛苦化。
但是，我想还是会有很多家长仍然会这样去做。
这就是我想说的，普通的家长，不适合教自己的孩子。
如果真的觉得自己适合教自己的孩子，那么一定要先让自己心态放平和，别心急，别比较，别.....
