    刚把第一本打玩,字还是比较多的,好久没有这么打字了,胳膊有点儿酸了,其余几本改天再打了,或者看看其他爸妈是不是可以帮忙啊。
    IT’S TIME FOR SCHOOL!
    By Steve Metzger
    Illustrated by Hans Wilhelm
It was early September and Albert was going to school. For the very first time!
“Mommy, will you stay with me at school?” asked Albert.
“I’ll stay for a while,” said Albert’s mother. “And then, when you’re ready, I’ll leave.”
“I’ll never be ready,” said Albert.
Albert and his mother walked inside the school. A friendly dinosaur greeted them.
“Hi, I’m Mrs. Dee. I’m your teacher,” she said. “What’s your name?”
“Albert,” said Albert in a tiny voice.
Albert looked around. He saw children playing in different parts of the classroom. But he didn’t know any of them.
“Mommy, please don’t go,” said Albert. “I’m still not ready.”
“Okay,” said Albert’s mother. “What should we do?”
“Let’s play over there,” said Albert, pointing to the sand table.
Albert and his mother used shovels and funnels to see which containers held the most sand.
When they filled the last one, Albert’s mother said, “Now, it’s time for me to go. But before I leave, I’d like you to know something.”
Albert’s mother sang this song to him:
    You’re growing up.
    It’s time for school.
    Today’s the day you start.
But don’t forget, you’ll always be
    Right inside my heart.
    Albert smiled.
“Bye-bye, Albert,” said Albert’s mother as she walked out of the door.
    “Bye-bye, Mommy,” said Albert.
All of a sudden, a new boy burst into the classroom.
“Hi, everybody, I’m Brendan!” he shouted. “Wow! Look at all these toys! I’m going to have so much fun. Good-bye, Mom. See you later, alligator.”
Albert watched as Brendan quickly made a mud-dough dinosaur.
Then Brendan skipped over to the blocks area and — lickety-split — built a tall tower with colorful blocks.
Next, he raced over to the easel, where he painted a tree in just a few seconds.
“I’m done,” Brendan said. “Now what do I do?”
Mrs. Dee led Brendan to the puzzle table. Albert turned to see what the other children were doing.
Tara was carefully building a firehouse with blocks and pieces of bard. Joshua was looking for his name on the name chart.
And Danielle and Tracy were playing “mommy and baby” in the dress-up area. That made Albert think about his mommy and he began to cry. In a moment, Mrs. Dee was next to him.
“You miss your mommy. Don’t you, Albert?” asked Mrs. Dee.
    “Yes,” sniffled Albert.
“She’ll be here later, after our story time,” said Mrs. Dee. “But right now I could really use your help. Do you see that doll in the dress-up area? That doll is very sad.”
“Why is he sad?” asked Albert, wiping his eyes.
“I don’t know,” said Mrs. Dee. “Maybe you could ask him.”
Albert went over to the dress-up area and asked the doll why he was sad. He held the doll’s mouth to his ear so he could hear the answer.
“He said he misses his mommy,” said Albert.
“I thought so,” said Mrs. Dee. “What do you think would make him feel better?”
“I think he wants to hear a story,” said Albert. “Sometimes my mommy reads to me when I’m sad.”
“That’s a great idea,” said Mrs. Dee.
Albert brought the doll to the story corner and showed him all the pictures from Goldilocks and the Three Bears. That made Albert feel a little better.
But when Albert heard the sound of crying, he knew someone else was unhappy. Who could it be? He looked over at the puzzle table. It was Brendan.
Albert walked over to the table where Brendan was sitting.
“What’s the matter?” asked Albert shyly.
“I miss my mommy,” said Brendan. “I’m sad.”
“He’s sad, too,” said Albert, pointing to the doll.
“Maybe he’s sad because he wants a toy car,” said Brendan as he looked closely at the doll. “He saw one in the store, but his mommy and daddy said he couldn’t have it. Let’s make him a toy car. Okay?”
    “Okay,” said Albert.
Brendan and Albert build a long car. Then they went to the blocks area and gave the doll lots of rides.
    “This is fun,” said Albert.
“Yes!” yelled Brendan. “I think he feels a lot better now.”
During the rest of that morning’s playtime, Albert had a wonderful time with Brendan, his new friend. They especially enjoyed making giant mountains at the sand table.
Later on, Albert met some of the other children.
He and Danielle played a restaurant game in the dress-up area. Danielle was the chef and Albert was the waiter. They served mud-dough cake to their customers.
At snack time, Albert sat next to Tara. He was surprised when Tara tried to take most of the crackers from the basket. Mrs. Dee told her she could only have three.
During outside time, Albert dug for worms with Tracy. And they even found a few! Albert wanted to keep them, but Tracy said they needed to stay in the ground to live.
And at story time, Albert and Joshua giggled at the silly rhymes that Mrs. Dee read.
When Mrs. Dee finished reading, the children turned to face the door. All the parents and baby-sitters were waiting for them.
“Mommy, Mommy!” Albert shouted as he ran to his mother. “I love going to school. School is fun! Can I come back tomorrow?”
“Yes, Albert,” his mother said. “And even the day after that.”
Then Albert sang a new song to his mother:
    I’m growing up.
    Now I’m in school.
I played and ate my snack.
    Mommy, I had fun today,
But now I’m glad you’re back.
When he was finished, Albert gave his mother a great, big hug.

    刚刚又打了一本,如下:
    Where’s Mommy?
School was ending for the day and the children were ready to go home.
“Tomorrow,” said Mrs. Dee, “we will play ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’ and bake alphabet pretzels.”
“Great!” said Tara. “I love pretzels!”
“I love pretzels more than you do,” exclaimed Brendan. “I love pretzels more than anyone in the whole world. One day, I ate a hundred million pretzels!”
    “No, you didn’t,” said Tara.
    “Yes, I did,” said Brendan.
“Okay,” said Mrs. Dee, looking up at the clock. “It’s time to line up.”

The parents, grandparents, and baby-sitters were waiting in the next room.
“Hi, Mommy,” shouted Albert as he ran into his mother’s arms.
“Hello, Grandpa,” said Tracy. “Do you want to see my painting? It’s a giant bird.”

All the children excitedly found the adults who were there to pick them up – all except Danielle. She couldn’t find her mother anywhere.
“Where’s my mommy?” asked Danielle in a worried voice.
“Your mommy’s on her way,” said Mrs. Dee. “She’ll be here in a little while.”
“Is she OK?” Danielle asked. “Do you think something happened to her?”
“I’m sure she’s fine,” said Mrs. Dee. “Let’s see if she called and left a message.”

Mrs. Dee and Danielle went to the office. There were no messages from Danielle’s mother.
“Your mommy is probably stuck in traffic,” said Mrs. Dee. “Sometimes that happens.”
Danielle sang this song to herself:
    Where’s Mommy? Where’s Mommy?
I wish that she was near.
    Where’s Mommy? Where’s Mommy?
I want her to be here!

Mrs. Dee put her arm around Danielle.
“You’re a brave girl,” said Mrs. Dee.
    “Why?” asked Danielle.
“Because it’s hard to wait for your mommy when all of the other children have been picked up from school,” said Mrs. Dee.
That made Danielle feel a little better. But she still missed her mother.
“All right!” said Mrs. Dee in a cheery voice. “Let’s find something for you to do.”

Mrs. Dee and Danielle walked back inside their classroom.
“What shall it be?” asked Mrs. Dee. “Do you want to build with blocks, draw a picture, or listen to a story?”
“I want to draw a picture,” Danielle said, sitting down at the art table.
Mrs. Dee gave her a box of crayons and a big piece of paper.

Danielle drew a picture of herself and her mommy at the zoo. When she finished, Danielle looked at the picture and began to cry.
Mrs. Dee sat in the chair next to her.
“Don’t worry, Danielle,” said Mrs. Dee. “I’m sure your mommy will be here very soon.”
After a few moments, Danielle stopped crying.
“Am I still a brave girl?” sniffled Danielle.
“Yes, of course,” said Mrs. Dee. “Crying has nothing to do with being brave.”
    “Really?” asked Danielle.
    “Really!” answered Mrs. Dee.
Mrs. Dee stood up and looked at a nearby table.
“My, my, my,” she said, shaking her head.
    “What’s wrong?” asked Danielle.

“Just look at this table!” said Mrs. Dee. “It’s covered with mud dough. This is a job for the Super-Duper After-School Cleanup Crew!”
“What’s the Super-Duper After-School Cleanup Crew?” Danielle asked.
“They’re special workers who clean up classrooms when the school day is over,” said Mrs. Dee.

Mrs. Dee put on a baseball cap from the dress-up area.
“Did you know that I’m a member of the Super-Duper After-School Cleanup Crew?” Mrs. Dee said as she filled up a bucket with warm, soapy water.
“No,” said Danielle. “Can I be a member, too?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” said Mrs. Dee. “You have to be strong.”

    “I’m strong,” said Danielle.
“And you have to like soapy water,” said Mrs. Dee.
“I like soapy water,” answered Danielle.
“Then, let’s go!” said Mrs. Dee as she put a cap on Danielle’s head and handed her a sponge.

Mrs. Dee and Danielle sang songs as they scrubbed the mud dough off the table.
Just as they finished, Danielle’s mother walked into the classroom.

“I’m sorry I’m so late,” said Danielle’s mother. “I was stuck in a big traffic jam.”
When Danielle saw her mother, she turned around and faced the other way.
“What’s the matter?” asked Danielle’s mother. “Aren’t you glad to see me?”
Mrs. Dee walked over to Danielle’s mother.
“I think she’s a little upset that she had to wait for you,” said Mrs. Dee.
Danielle’s mother noticed Danielle’s drawing on the art table. She picked it up to get a closer look.

“Who made this beautiful picture?” she asked.
“I did, Mommy!” said Danielle as she ran to her mother’s side. “It’s you and me! And we’re at the zoo! See the giraffe and the lion! It’s for you, Mommy! I missed you.”
“I missed you, too, Danielle,” said her mother.

Danielle and her mommy hugged each other for a long time.
“I was on the Super-Duper After-School Cleanup Crew,” said Danielle. “And Mrs. Dee said I was a brave girl.”
“I’m sure you were,” said Danielle’s mother.
Danielle smiled a great, big smile.

“I have a song for you, Mommy,” she said. Danielle sang this song:
    Mommy, when you didn’t come,
    I joined the Cleanup Crew.
But now I’m happy that you’re here.
    Mommy, I love you!
And then it was time to go home.
