NO16 Puppet Play
Puppet make brilliant toys. They are great as distractions when you'er out and about and you can also use them to act out stories.
Give your child a puppet as well and have puppet 'conversation'.
You can also easily make your own puppet, by using a non-toxic maerker pen to draw a face on an old sock.
You could add wool for hair, and a ribbon.
A face drawn on a paper bag can work too.
You can use puppets to encourage your child to do things she may not like, such as getting dressed, or eating certain food, by having the puppet pretend to do it first.

No18Gymnastics
Most toddlers love being active, so you could try out some simple gymnastics, even if it's just letting your child clamber all over you, bouncing her on your knees or swinging her gently through the air.
Toddlers often love 'falling' through their parents' legs.
You could try lying down with your knees bent, and get your child to lean on your legs, whilst you hold her hands.
Then gently lift your legs. To lift your child higher, you can hold her shoulders to stop her from sliding forwards.
Toddlers are extremely flexible. Try sitting with your toddler between your knees. Keeping one of her legs bent, help her lift the other leg, then let her kiss her toes. Then try the other foot.

No19 Peg Play
Toddlers enjoy manipulating objects and soft-grip plastic cloths pegs can make a good toy. Clip a few around the rim of plastic pot or mug before handing it to your toddler before handing it to your toddler.
Show your toddler how o unclip the pegs and put them in the pot.
When he has finished unclipping the pegs, clip them back around pot.
You could also give your toddler the pot and pegs to amuse him in the bath.
Clip the pegs onto other things too, such as a duck's beak in the bath.
这个倒是没有给宝宝玩过,原来晾衣服的夹子也是可以用来玩的,不错

No20 Stacking and packing
Babies and toddlers of this age are fascinated by things that fit into, or onto, other things. A box stacked with smaller boxes, tubes and flat pieces ofcardboard is usually a good source of entertainment.
Your toddler may just like to take everything out and put it back again, but you could also show him to stack the smaller boxes into a tower and knock it down.
The tubes can also stood on theirends for knocking down, rolled along the floor or used as telescopes or megaphones.

No21 Water Painting
Some water in a plastic bowl and a big piece of paper can keep your baby entertained and provide as much fun as actual painting. Show your baby how to dip her hand in the water to make wet marks on the paper.
You could do this activity outside. Use a bucket of water and a piece od sponge to make watery marks or patterns on a brick wall, some garden paving or part of a shed or bench. Be prepared for your baby to get wet though!
You could try making watery hand prints as well.
Supervise your baby at all times near water.

NO22 kick a ball
Balls are usually popular toys with one-year-olds and there are lots of games you can play with them, even if your baby isn't yet walking.
Hold your baby and swing her legs so that she can kick a ball across the floor.
Once your baby can stand on her own, she'll have fun kicking the ball herself.
Use a large cardboard box to improvise a goal. Lay the box, flaps open, on its side. Clap and cheer whenever the ball goes in.
You could also show your toddler how to kick or roll the ball at a row of empty plastic bottles for a simple game of skittles.

NO23 Time to talk
Your toddler may start to say his first recognizable words around this time. Greet each word with great enthusiasm, and say it back to him.
If the word isn't quite right, don't correct your toddler, just make sure you say the correct version of the word to him often.
Your toddler's language will improve the more you talk to him. Chat about everyday activities, such as getting dressed or eating.
Leave pauses in your conversation to give your toddler time to speak, even if he is just babbling.
Repeatedly point out familiar objects such as lights, cups and spoons and teach your toddler about the different parts of his body.

No24 Making marks
Encourage your baby to scribbleby making some marks of your own first.
Your baby won't be able to draw anything meaningful yet, but scribbling can be a fun activity to do together.
Tape a big piece of paper(it could even be old newspaper) onto some hard flooring and give your baby a chunky non-toxic crayon.
If the paper's big enough, sit your baby in the middle of it.
Help your baby to hold the crayon over the paper and make scribbles.
If the scribbling strays off the paper, just lift your baby's hand and move it back over the paper.
Supervise your baby carefully to make sure the crayons don't end up in her mouth.

NO25 Soft Play
You can liven up a rainy day by turning your sitting room into an adventure playground. Let your child clamber over cushion mountains, climb onto the sofa and jump on pillows.
You can try putting chairs together to make a tunnel, or drape a sheet or blanket over the back of two chairs to make a bridage for your child to go under.
For more confident movers, you could increase the challenges, such as running around cushions or stepping from one pillowcase to another.
Put a a mattress on the floor for bouncing and rolling on or let your child have fun bouncing on your bed. Supervise carefully to make sure she doesn't go near the edge.

No26 Secret den
Many toddlers like playing in their own den or play house. Your toddler may go in and out repeatedly at first-just let her explore in her own way.
You can easily make your own den by covering a table with large cloth or blanket, so that its sides touch the floor.
Fill the den with cushions, books and a few of your toddler's toy. You could get in the den too, if there's room.
You might find your toddler is happy playing in thr den alone. Encourage any signs of independent play, just keep a watchful eye.

As they near 18 months, some children start to love the idea of cooking and cleaning. Give your toddler a cloth or duster so he can copy your actions as you clean.
Your toddler might enjoy "dusting' low surfaces.
Encourage your toddler to help you empty the washing machine ot put cloth away in drawers.
You can make a toy oven out of a cardboard box so your toddler can pretend to cook on it.
In the cardboard box:
Draw on some oven rings.
Stick on another piece of cardboard at the back of the oven and draw on some knobs.
Cut a hole in the box for an oven door.

No28 Balloon fun
Blow up a balloon, letting your baby watch, then pat it into the air and keep it afloat. Hold your child in your arms so she can bop the balloon too.
Be gentle with the balloon. If it pops, it may alarm your baby.
If your child is walking, she can have fun chasing and watching the balloon. She may also enjoy watching you blow up a balloon and then letting it go.
Balloon play needs close supervising as a used balloon is a choking hazard.

No29 Copycat
Babies of this age often love to copy adults. You can build this into your daily routine using the action rhyme on the other side of this card.
Do daily tasks, such as teeth brushing, in front of your baby.
An action rhyme to say to your baby.
This is the way we brush our teeth, brush our teeth, brush our teeth.
This is the way we brush our teeth, on acold and frosty morning.
(mime the action of each verse and sing alone to the tune of 'Here we goround the mulberry bush')
Other verse:
This is the way we wash our face...
This is the way we brush our hair...
This is the way we sweep the floor...
This is the way we put on our shoes...
To hear the tune, go to www.usbornequicklinks.com and type in 'action rhymes' then click on 'Here we go round the mulberry bush'.

No30 In and out
From about the age of twelve months, your toddler may be starting to understand a few 'positional' words. You can play simple games to encourage this.
You can lift your toddler in and out of a cardboard box, saying 'in' and 'out' as you do it.
Try gently placing your toddler's hands 'in' and 'out' of the box, then ask her to do it herself.
Continue this game by asking your toddler to get 'in' and 'out' of the box.
Children of this age are also beginning to the words 'up' and 'down'. Take a small box, lift it up and then bring it down again, saying 'up' and 'down' as you do it.
Give the box to your toddler and ask her to lift it up and bring it back down again.

No31 What's inside?
Toddlers are intensely curious and love hunting around in bags and boxes. Fill cardboard boxes, shoe boxes, cloth bags, pillowcases ot easy-to-open plastic containers.
You could include a selection of small toys and safe household objects, such as plastic spoons, socks rolled into a ball and scrunched up paper.
You could also do boxes within boxes--putting toys in a shoe box inside a cardboard box.
If you don't have any boxes to hand, just drape a scarf over some toys and let your baby enjoy discovering what's underneath.

No32 Paint Play
Toddlers are fascinated by cause and effect so oftern enjoy seeing what they can do with paint. First dress your toddler in a long-sleeved bib and put down plenty of newspaper to avoid too much mess.
Show your toddler how to dip a sponge in non-toxicpaint then press it onto paper.
Show your toddler how to make marks with fingers and paint, giving sponges and chubby brushes to older toddlers.
You could draw a circle and help your child to add fingerprint dots for the eyes and nose to make a face.
There'll be a lot of mess, so this is a good activity to do before bathtime.

No33.Ball rolling
Balls are popular toys with babies and toddlers. For a simple game of 'catch', sit on the floor facing your baby, with your legs apart and your toes touching. Roll a ball to each other, using your legs to steer the ball if necessary.
You could also give the ball to your baby, let him throw it and then encourage him to go after it. Your baby may repeat this again and again, and be happy playing with a ball with his own.
If you have a soft, blow-up ball, you can practise throwing and 'catching'. It may be a while before your toddler is able to catch a ball, but he can still have fun trying.

No34 Making friends
Toddler get a lot out of meeting other children. They may still perfer to play alone most of the time, but the more chances they have to learn to play with others, the better.
If you have friends with toddlers, encourage your children to play together when you meet.
You can show them how to pass toys to each other, roll or kick a ball to each other, play catch or play hide and seek.
Sharing toys can be especially tricky at this age. Try sharing things with your toddler, so she learns by imitating you, and be sure to reward any sharing on her part.
You could also find out about local playgroups, singing groups or soft play sessions.

No35 Go for a walk
Even though toddlers aren't known for their speed, walking at their pace will help them gain confidence.
Take short walks together in a park or in the countryside.
You could give your child a bucket to collect small objects on your walk.
Prepare for long pauses and many plops down onto the ground. If you're near a road, keep tight hold of your toddler's hand or use reins.
Your toddler may want to carry the bucket and frequently empty it out, but that's all part of the fun.
Look out for pebbles, leaves and pine cones to collect on your walk.

No36 Dancing baby
Most babies love listening to music and may love dancing to it as well. Put on some music and dance around the room, then pick up your baby and dance with him on your hip.
Move your arm as you dance, encouraging your baby to copy you.
If your baby is walking, put him on the floor and encourage him to copy your dance moves, as long as you keep them simple.
If your baby's not yet walking, hold his hands and move to the music together.
Try getting your baby to stamp his feet in time to the music.

No38 Mini cooks
Toddlers often enjoy 'cooking' and it's good to encourage them to feel at ease with food. Try to involve your child in safe food activities, such as rolling balls of pastry or stirring mixtures.
Let your toddler squeeze, tear and press some dough.
Make sure you both wash your hands before you begin cooking.
Your toddler could stir dried pasta in a bowl, or have a go(我怎么觉得这里应该是goal呢?不过卡片上是写go) at stirring something he can eat, such as mixing chopped fruit with yogurt, or grated cheese into pasta.
You could also show your child how to spread jam onto bread with the back of a spoon.
Make sure you supervise your child at all times in the kitchen and keep any dangerous equipment well out of reach.
