对于我们这些没有家庭英语环境的孩子,创造小环境,是家长的天职。
因为没有环境,就不可能高效;没有环境,不可能成为一流!
基于这种想法,今年二月,我在这儿发了一个帖子:“为孩子找聊天伙伴”。
跟帖的朋友非常善意。有肯定的,有持异议的。肯定的认为是个好主意,持异议的认为想法不错,但不可行。而且试过了,说不信你再试试。
“别人做不成的事,你做成了,那才叫本事。”——我当时这么想。
“少年英语聊天群”建立成来了,很快发展到50多位小朋友。小女子JENNY几次登群呼唤,并发表她的英语作文,但基本没回应。主动联系的几位好友,也没有主动性。打字聊天嘛,更不行了,对手速度慢,聊不起来。
为孩子找聊天伙伴的事,看来让大腕们说准了,中听不中办。
暑假里有了转机。
有位叫康妮妈妈的,发起“MTH读后自由谈”活动,组织孩子每次谈《神奇树屋》中的半章或一章。
可我家JENNY还没有读过呢,那就赶紧读吧。活动进行到那一章,就急用先学那一章。
JENNY不负家长期望,上场就成了主力,而且场场到。暑假期间,在YY语音上共开展了6次活动。顺便说一下JENNY的英语程度:她每周有两次外教全外语授课,加州语文G2已经教学完毕。听力培养超过两千小时。基本可以用英语自由表达。
九月份开学了,活动开展由我承担,形式更多。MTH聊过两次,”夏洛特的网“聊过两次,”中秋月夜”聊月亮一次,”降世神通“聊一次,连环图画聊一次。
中秋节聊月亮那次,三个孩子在一起谈天说地,从天文知识聊到月饼口味,一个个笑得前俯后仰,一下谈了七十分钟。那夜我们这儿不巧,是多云天,月亮看不见,但聊天补救这一缺憾,孩子真过了一个快乐的中秋夜!
从失败到成功的思考。
1.聊天伙伴要有热情,但更重要的是要有一定程度的口语表达能力,也就是说,要基本能用英语自由表达。扩展地解说,得有接受过外教或中教全外语教学的经历。或达到、接近加州语文G2教学完毕的程度。或具有对JBJ、MTH有自主阅读能力程度。等等。
2.家长的理念更新是前提。那些认为自家的孩子看了多少多少动画片,能读什么什么书啦,而对语言形成规律不甚了了的家长,他们的孩子难以为伴,因为家长不支持办什么都不成。
3.聊天话题选择。多选用共同读过的书、看过的视频。选话题时相互沟通、互礼互让、协商一致。孩子之间越来越熟悉,聊天主题内容及形式会更多样。
JENNY已经有了一个家住北京的家长素质很高的聊伴,每周定时开展。这个很难得啊,我们双方家长和孩子都非常珍惜对方。
今年以来,抓了孩子的口语表达,孩子的英语作文也跟着齐进。五月份参加了作文班,每周写一篇,至今已写了18篇了,一周也不缺。在这儿显摆一篇孩子的英语作文,目的不为炫耀,是想为孩子找更多的聊友。有意与JENNY成为聊友者请发短消息。
说明一下,此篇作文外教老师作了少量改动,应当不会有文字错误。
Title: I like Tigers
I like animals! Those who fly in the sky, swim in the sea, run on land, live in the cold and hot places and the pets people can take care of.
I like tigers. In a legend, tigers are the king of all the animals. Because the stripes on its forehead,it\\\'s really like \\\"king\\\" in Chinese. I’ve played with tiger toys, sing tiger songs, hear stories about tigers, see the pictures and read picture books about tigers. Since I was little, I feel like the tigers are my friends.
Tigers are sometimes cute, their fur is usually brown and black stripes. But some tigers are white and there are only a few of them. They look bold and powerful.
Recently, I read a book about tigers called “Saving the Last Wild Tigers”. The book says that tigers are important to the habitats where they live. If the tigers become extinct, the plant-eating animals will get more that will destroy the vegetation.
The book also says that the tigers in Asia are disappearing. Nine types of tigers live in Asia long ago. Now, there are only five types left and there are only about 3, 500 tigers living in the wild.
I feel worried for the fate of the tigers. People continue to kill them by cutting down trees from the forest. People have to protect the tigers’ habitat. So the tigers will have a safe home.
Human and animals are both Earth’s children. Animals have the right to live on Earth, too. If the king of the animals which live with the human on Earth for millions of years vanished, that’s an unfortunate thing. I hope all the people like tigers too so they will protect the tigers!

Jenny is a very creative writer, her work exhibits creativity. She has effective writing ability. There is a moral lesson to her story. She shows good written expression. However she needs to work on punctuation and capitalization. She can also practice more on proper use of verb tenses. The whole composition must be on the present form.
