My feet
I have two feet.
My feet are thepart of my body I stand on.
Each foot has afront----the toes.
It has aback----the heel.
And it has anunderneath----the sole.

I have ten toes Ican wiggle-----
five on my leftfoot, five on my right foot.
There is a bigtoe, a little toe, and three toes in between.
Each toe has anail to protect it.
Toenails growfast.
It tickles when mymother cuts mine.
The heel bone isbig.
It is strong.
It helps supportmy weight.
Sometimes for fun,I walk on my heels.
It’s even harderto stand still on them.
Try it!
I can feel anotherstrong bone on the sole of my foot.
It is padded witha soft cushion of skin.
That is the ballof the foot.
When I jump, Ijump on the balls of my feet.
There is a curvedarch under each foot, too,
Right in themiddle of the sole.
When I makefootprints, my arch doesn’t print.
But some peoplehave flat feet.
Their arches aren’tvery curved.
Feet come in allsizes.
They grow as wegrow.
My feet grow sofast, I have to get them s\measured
whenever I buy newshoes.
My sister has tinyfeet.
They fit into thepalm of my hand.

My brother’s feetare bigger than mine.
My mother’s feetare bigger than his.
(Sometimes shewears high heels.
She says they arenot very comfortable.)
My father’s feetare the biggest of all!
Whatever size theyare, we use our feet all the time.
They take us wherewe want to go.
I keep mine busy.
I walk, I run
I skip, I march, I kick,
I hop, I tiptoe,
I skate,
I dance. People call me Twinkle-toes.
When I do thesethings,
I try to think ofwhat part
of my foot I amusing.
My toes? My heel?
Or all of my foot?
It’s a game youcan play, too.
I am lucky I havetwo feet that work well.
My friend doesn’t.
There are manythings she can’t do.
But with hercrutches she can walk as fast as I can.
I have fun with myfeet.
I play with them.
I can clap my feetand rub them together.
I can pick thingsup with my toes.
I can even drawwith my toes---but not well!
I dress my feet.
I put on my socksfirst.
I wear sneakersfor play.
and fancy shoeswhen I dress up.
I wear galosheswhen it rains,
or sandals when it’shot.
Ouch! I stepped ona prickle.
Look out forcrabs!
Ooooo!
The sand is hot!
I like bare feetbest!
But I have to becareful.
In winter I put onheavy socks and boots.
I play in the snowuntil my feet are freezing cold.
Then I run homeand soak them, and put on my slippers.
When my feet arewarm, the rest of me is too.
Right now, I feelcozy from head to toe.
I’ll give my feeta rest and read a book.
