It is really a contest for colloquial composition. It consists of three parts: Q&A, completing a dialog, and a verbal composition. In the first part, the examiner asked, "How many days are there in April?" Daughter answered, "There are 29 days in April." (errrh...) The next question is, "Who cleans your room?" Daughter said, "I clean my room by myself." (Really?) The third one is, "Who does the cooking in your family?" Daughter replied, "My dad does the cooking in our family." (yeah, finally got it right).
In the second part, the examiner showed a series of pictures with a kid and his mom. Then she started a sentence with something like, "Mom said that the dinner is ready", and asked daughter to complete the conversation. No hassle.
The third part is a verbal composition. The examiner asked daughter to say two or three sentences about a sport that she likes. This is indeed a writing assignment in California Treasure that we recently did. Daughter thought about it for a short while, and then talked about skating, including where she went skating, she really enjoyed skating, and things like that.
The whole procedure took possibly less than 5 minutes to accomplish. Will see how it goes.
