What types of students have a better academic performance?

According to a recent survey in Japan, students whose fathers return home at midnight and whose mothers are full-time housewives are more likely to perform better academically.
Fathers returning home late are likely to earn more to pay for cram schools and full-time house wives can better monitor the student's behavior and offer support.
The students may also enjoy inherit genes for positive behaviors from their fathers.
However, my wife does not speak good Japanese and cannot be expected of too much, in terms of child education, despite the fact that she is a full-time house wife.
